The absence of Jules Cluzel – – made the Supersport race very monotonous. Back at his best, Kenan Sofuoglu easily won over PJ Jacobsen, new second in the championship, and Lorenzo Zanetti…

Supersport Race

Kenan Sofuoglu goes like a cannonball! Patrick Jacobsen takes second place ahead of an extremely impressive Lucas Mahias on the first brake! The Franco-Grolandais pilot is ahead of Lorenzo Zanetti, Rea, Faccani, Baldolini, Smith, Terol – replacing Cluzel! – and Vladimir Leonov.

At the very start of the 2nd lap, at the exit of the first curve, Lucas lifts his right arm high and leaves the track. The two Italians placed in his wheel almost hit him but continued their race. Our only representative in World Supersport also leaves the track safely…

On the track, the # 54 Kawasaki continues to lead but the # 99 Honda is less than a second behind. The MV Agusta n ° 87 starts the 3rd lap with a similar delay: Zanetti is 8 tenths of a second behind Jacobsen and 1.6 seconds behind Sofuoglu.

The chase group is two seconds from the podium and is made up of Faccani, Terol who is gradually rising, Smith and Baldolini. Gino Rea keeps his # 4 Honda just one second behind private MV Agusta, ahead of Leonov by more than two seconds.

In the 6th lap, Marco Faccani is passed by Nico Terol. The Italian needs to widen slightly and is attacked by Kyle Smith. The young Briton does not stop there and overtakes the MV Agusta n ° 88 in the following loop! Elbow on the ground, the Honda Pata rider aims Zanetti placed three seconds in front of him.

Smith’s compatriot and namesake of 2015 WSBK World Champion Gino Rea bites the dust. Having started at the fault in the last section of the circuit, extremely fast, the n ° 4 sprays his Honda in the gravel pit and must abandon the race…

The halfway mark is crossed (10th lap) and Kenan Sofuoglu maintains his lead over Patrick Jacobsen above a second. The American rookie is himself two seconds ahead of Lorenzo Zanetti … He lacks a Jules Cluzel to animate all this !

Unfortunately for the show, Kyle Smith struggles to get back on the MV Agusta n ° 87 but at the same time moves away from the other factory F3 driven by Nico Terol … The first drivers to face each other directly on the track are the Swiss Shmitter and the Spanish Ramirez: both covet 11th place.

The four leading men complete the next two laps at extremely close rates. Then in the 14th lap, PJ Jacobsen suddenly faltered and lost almost a second to Sofuoglu. Zanetti notices this and quickens the pace in the next lap…

With two laps to go, the gap between PJ and Lorenzo fell under second but the Italian couldn’t get any closer on the 19th and final lap. Kyle Smith, on the other hand, manages to grab a few hundredths on Zanetti but is far too far away to trigger any attack..

Kenan Sofuoglu therefore won an unstoppable victory, his first since the end of August at Donington Park. The three-time Turkish champion takes the opportunity to consolidate his lead in the championship over … PJ Jacobsen, the American rookie who climbs on a fourth consecutive podium and overtakes our unfortunate Jules Cluzel.
