Brutale 800 RR or Dragster RR?

The MV Agusta Brutale 800 Dragster RR is even more attacked with peppy design elements, a more powerful drive and new technical features. MOTORRAD has already been able to ride the dragster RR as well as the Brutale 800 that has been prepared for the RR.

Is the M.V Agusta Brutale 800 Dragster a casual power cruiser or a hidden naked bike with cruiser elements? That was the first question with the basic dragster. But that was answered quickly when you had covered a few meters with the agile, agile Brutale offshoot. Actually also clear if you take a closer look at the motorcycle: at the front pure naked bike, only the stubby tail with lowered license plate holder makes a cruiser. This applies to the standard version, but especially to the even more sporty RR.

Brutale 800 RR or Dragster RR?

MV Agusta Brutale 800 Dragster RR immediately had the feeling of just being made up of the engine and front wheel. Speaking of the engine. MV is not exactly known for bringing new models to the market in the best possible way from the start. But this time, at least after the first drive, everything indicates that the technicians have the mappings under control. When rolling off, the Dragster RR picks up the gas cleanly, pulls gently from the yard and is not noticeable over the course of the next 300 kilometers.

MV Agusta Brutale 800 Dragster RR not for strollers

On the contrary, the triple pulls off so strongly and at the same time linearly that it is simply a real pleasure. However, you should be dynamically oriented, because there is no gentle kitten in the 798 cubic in-line engine with the reverse-rotating crankshaft. Mainly responsible for the fine throttle response are probably the double injection nozzles, while the standard model has to get by with one. Paired with the new mappings (Rain, Normal, Sport and freely programmable custom mapping) and a modified exhaust system, MV tickles a whopping 140 hp from the triple. Enjoyable 86 Nm torque is available almost linearly over a wide speed range. The RR rider immediately feels that things are progressing much faster than the standard model. Every little turn of the throttle is converted into full thrust. It starts around 4000 rpm and doesn’t let up until the speed limit. The end is only at 13,200 rpm, that is, at super sport level. But the nice thing about the engine: You don’t have to squeeze out, even moderate riding lessons are possible with the MV Agusta Brutale 800 Dragster RR.

Nevertheless, the RR rider should always have a sporty attitude, because the tightly tuned suspension with the completely new 43 mm Marzocchi fork and the Sachs shock absorber is not for strollers despite the large adjustment range. In union with the motor, it exudes the charm of a real riot brush. The visual appearance also matches this. Especially in the Pearl Shock Red and Pearl Ice White paintwork, the MV Agusta Brutale 800 Dragster RR really catches the eye, not least because of the white wire rims.

Poisonous biting Brembo brake system

The Dragster RR can be driven like an undisguised piece of sports equipment. The handling is very nice, and the cornering stability is also pleasing. In fast alternating bends she seems a little nervous here and there and briskly falls into the second bend. Overall, however, a wonderfully active motorcycle. On one condition: the MV is not only a visually but also ergonomically compact motorcycle. Drivers taller than six feet will have difficulty moving between the seat and the handlebars. In addition, you automatically slide forward to the tank over the sloping seat.

The poisonous Brembo brake system is suitable for the aggressive appearance – something for experienced drivers. But for emergencies there is still the late, but safe Bosch ABS. The highlight for people with a sporty spirit is the standard gearshift with blipper, with which you can downshift from 30 km / h without using the clutch. This means that the buyer profile for the MV Agusta Brutale 800 Dragster RR has been determined: sporty, extroverted, less than 1.80 meters tall – and at a purchase price of 16,290 euros, not exactly a starvation.

The new MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR shares with the RR dragster the revised three-cylinder engine including electronics package as well as the chassis with fully adjustable Marzocchi fork and Sachs shock absorber. However, the Brutale is noticeably more comfortable on the country road. Sporty natures will delight in the steering damper, which is now standard on both models, which makes perfect sense, especially on the Brutale during a brisk ride at the exit of a curve.

More space on the Brutale 800 RR

The big advantage of the MV Agusta Brutale 800 RR is the space it offers. The triangle consisting of handlebars (the Brutale has a continuous tubular handlebar, the Dragster two halves of the handlebar), pegs and seat are more spacious on the Brutale, so that every driver can find a suitable spot here. In direct comparison, the dragster is the more aggressively designed motorcycle that wants to be ridden with pressure on the front wheel. And the price of 13,980 euros also makes the Brutale RR a more pleasing motorcycle.
