MV-Agusta F4 1078 RR 312 2008

Menus

Once again MV-Agusta got involved and put all his knowledge into their new car. The beast also known as “the most beautiful motorcycle in the world” has a brand new outfit for 2008. Indeed, the MV F4 R 312 is even more powerful, more aggressive, and with better control of this power..
They added another R for the F4s, as well as the R312s, in order to differentiate these new versions from the old ones, as they are from now on equipped with a 1078cc engine. The latter retains its top speed, in bottom of sixth, 312 km / h!
There is only one goal for 2008: Improvement. A goal like this is customary for a company with nearly 75 league titles, with success rooted in its soul. This year, the challenge is to put a machine, approved for circulation, which can go faster than a 747 on take-off. Like other challenges, in the past this new challenge has again required courage, willpower, passion, sacrifice, investment and the “MV Team”. The goal was simple: to create the best sportswoman in the world and a lower result would have been unthinkable. The 1078cc of the exclusive and highly regarded F4 CC were introduced in the new F4 RR 312. The over-capacity of the engine offers both more torque, but also more power at high revs. This is due to a series of improvements on the engine, where such a thing was possible, the goal was simply to go beyond the limits imposed by the “standard” engine. The RR 312 is not a machine with limits or weak points, and that’s why only the best components have been used..
The design of the cycle part as well as the frame has been well studied by the brand, they have kept substantially the same characteristics of handling and solidity. Every component of the machine has been analyzed and refined to cope with the new power that is 190hp. An impressive figure, but the new engine prevents him from entering the Superbike. However the old F4 1000 will still be available for the track and will have all the mechanical updates made to the engine assembly (anti-dribble clutch, new gear ratios), as well as all the modifications made to the cycle part (brakes, new suspension), and will be homologated for both FIM SuperStock and SuperBike.

The pride of the Italian designer.
The limits of design are for all products, and therefore all motorcycles, dictated by variations in parameters, influencing the manufacturing technique and also the cost. MV can overcome these limitations. Its main goal has always been to create beauty and perfection. Beauty should never be abandoned in the evolution of a product. In MV’s fashion, this is the cornerstone for developing their new models. Apart from perhaps a stroke of genius, the realization of this philosophy calls more on artists than engineers. In Italy in general, especially at MV, such a philosophy is possible. The F4 RR 312 is a perfect example, and adds pride, the company has always said since inception this F4 is the most beautiful. The secret to a long lifespan is to better prepare “standard” sports cars and to approach perfection. Every line and every corner of the machine has been designed to visually create “special effects”: finish, play of light and shadow, involving all the senses with bespoke components. The senses are accentuated by the new colors of this F4 RR 312. It is based on a base of pearl white, anthracite black, blue, or traditional colors such as red. Often times details make a part stand out, which is why MV has put so much time and effort into making the same thing happen again. New elements have been inserted for 2008, new optics and smoked screens for the F4 CC. Other cosmetic upgrades include stickers and graphics not to mention changes to the dashboard, some of these components are finished in plastic, however the shock absorber is now in red instead of yellow. The 4 escapements, in the shape of flutes are preserved, but more inclined.

The equipment.
The success of this new F4 RR 312 lies to a large extent in the refinement of products and technique compared to R 312, and includes the following:

– new stickers and new colors.
– smoked screen of the F4 CC.
– small exhausts.
– new suspension.
– F4 CC Sachs steering damper.
– Brembo monoblock brakes.
– 1078cc engine.
– anti-dribble clutch.
– new gearbox with short ratios.

The end result is breathtaking, a collection of Italian sports art summed up in one machine.

1078cc engine.
From MV’s point of view, the engine is key, both performance and handling. The reason is that when the power of an engine is called upon, the frame and suspension must withstand the stresses and respond most efficiently. Among the changes made, an essential element is the increase in displacement from 996cc to 1078cc, this by increasing the bore from 76 to 79mm. The cylinder head has been reworked to meet new specifications and features, an addition of 10mm long rounded. More power output, but it affects the linearity of the 4 cylinders. This is how the engineers worked and succeeded in obtaining the most powerful engine in the Hypersports. Despite the considerable increase in volume, the engine retains its engine speed appreciably and now offers even more torque: 124 Nm at 8200rpm (12.65 mkg). A lower max rpm compared to the old F4. The power output of the F4 RR 312 seems almost innocent, but it is definitely a gain, and a new power of 190hp that equips this new sports car. When it comes to gear ratios, the first three gears are longer, which spreads a bit more power output at high revs and also helps increase acceleration. The first gear goes up to 140km / h, the second up to almost 180km / h, and the third pushes you to close to 210, all in a hellish and demonic roar. The second very important development on this new F4 is the anti-dribble clutch which does not replace the EBS (Engine Brake System), but which is in parallel, in order to ensure the best possible pleasure for the driver. It is a mechanical anti-dribble system with ramps and roller bearings. The result makes it possible to drop the gears without cutting the throttle and not to block the rear wheel during deceleration, this is gradual in order to allow you to take the best possible trajectories in curves. Being very easy to use, it increases the rider’s feeling on the machine, and reduces braking times. When the machine is really used, the driver is more efficient both on the track and on the road, almost without realizing it.

A unique setting.
Those who have raced in MV-Agusta know that the frame and engine performance are really strong points for the F4s. Geometry, specifications, and toughness are responsible for the feeling of stability that when the bike relentlessly transmits all of its power on a track. The manufacturer decided to combine these three elements in its choice of materials, resulting in a chromium-molybdenum frame in steel tube. The hard work of the engineers at Varese was trying to improve what was already perfect, the balance of a machine that was already beyond perfection. The performance of this frame had already more than satisfied the riders as they were able to tell the difference on braking and in the corners. The variety of riding styles makes no difference, whether you are gentle or aggressive, either way the setting is perfect. The rear swingarm is still the same, nothing has changed. It is even more efficient in the face of the power of this new engine..

Suspension with new sport calibrations.
Those who are used to working in the racing world know that sophistication is at the heart of “extreme” production, so nothing should be overlooked or left to chance. Even the smallest detail can affect the overall change and balance of the machine. This means working very meticulously where perfection matters as much as intuition. This is why the F4 RR 312 has now updated the suspension calibration. The search for a perfect balance led the engineers to equip the new F4 with forks and a one-piece shock absorber to cope with this power. The components are the same as on the R 312: Marzocchi 50mm front fork and a Sachs monobloc rear shock, and a steering damper identical to that of the F4 CC. Carbon nitride treated forks, apart from their aggressiveness, are original colors, and are there to improve the riding characteristics. Stroke has been increased by 1mm and is now 130mm. MV-Agusta F4 1078 RR 312 2008To emphasize the race, the monoblock is fitted with a hydraulic preload adjustment which can be easily and quickly reset to zero using an allen key. Hydraulic compression is adjusted to within 2 grams, one for high speed, and the other for low. This improves rear behavior under high compression and when the driver is driving on deformed surfaces..

Brembo monobloc brakes.
Brembo racing brakes are fitted as standard on the F4 RR 312. This system is an exact copy of that used during Superbike racing. Two 320 x 5mm discs are mounted at the front with a single, one-piece radial caliper, housing 4 pistons and 4 pads. The only difference with the “official” Brembo racing brakes is the second protective cover fitted to the pistons for the F4 RR 312. This element serves to reduce the wear of the brakes which will certainly not be serviced as often as those which are. intended for the track.

To conclude, here is another magnificent jewel that MV is about to release, to the delight of the lucky and extremely wealthy bikers. Because it goes without saying that the machine will not be at the price of its competitors. But the exception is priceless.
