Interested parties could already equip and convert the puristic R 18 and the nostalgic tourer R 18 Classic with parts from the BMW accessories program. With the Option 719 line, there are now even more unusual options.

But before we turn to the accessories themselves, the following question: What does it stand for “Option 719”? The internal code 719 was with BMW motorcycle decades ago for particularly high-quality equipment and unusual special requests as well as for individual items. If the focus is now on individualization for the R 18, the name fits the idea.

Option 719 Aero design package

The Option 719 design package “Aero” includes the cylinder head covers on the left and right, the front cover and the intake snorkel cover on the left and right. All parts are made of aluminum sheet with a brushed and colorless anodized surface. The cylinder head covers are adorned with air slots that are intended to be reminiscent of the streamliners of the 1920s and 1930s. The badge on the front and side covers is made of solid copper, chrome-plated and partially covered with white lacquer. The varnish envelops the sequence of digits “719” and should be reminiscent of historical, enameled emblems.

Option 719 bench

Anyone who swaps their standard bench for the bench from the Option 719 range receives upholstery with seat heating made of two different materials – both in black – and with a diamond-shaped quilted embossing. An embroidered BMW lettering and the 719 symbol on the side are intended to indicate which exclusive item this is.

Option 719 painting

With the color “Galaxy Dust metallic” it is a flip-flop lacquer that shimmers from purple to turquoise blue depending on the incidence of light. The many large effect pigments should really come into their own when exposed to sunlight. The lacquer is combined with a mirror in “Titanium silver 2 metallic” on the tank. The transition between the two colored areas is represented by a manually applied smoke effect that we know from the R 90 S. In addition, a classic white double line surrounds the mirror surface.

Option 719 wheels Aero and Icon

The two wheel sets from the Option 719 line are called Aero and Icon. They are available in the basic colors silver matt or black matt. These are cast light alloy wheels in a six-spoke design. Eye-catcher: the milled ribs of the spokes. The milled areas create a contrast between the machined aluminum and the paint color of the wheels. This is why this type of processing is also called Contrast Cut.

Conclusion

Convenient, more eye-catching, high-quality or simply more individual – whatever the motivation may be to convert or upgrade your own R 18 / Classic – BMW offers a wide range of options in its own parts shelf. As is almost always the case, it’s all about what you can and want to afford.
