In 2019, the KTM 125 Duke was once again in the lead among 125cc motorcycles. The two Kawasakis Z 125 and Ninja 125 are new to the ranking, which should be particularly pleasing to the Greens because they weren’t even in the top 20 125cc bikes in 2018. Also new in the top 20 are the Enduro Malaguti XTM 125 and the cult bike Honda Super Cub, which is finally available in Germany.

16,395 large scooters newly registered

The big scooters enjoyed great popularity in Germany in 2019. We don’t want to talk about a revolutionary mobility concept here (apparently the e-scooters have reserved that for themselves), but 18.5 percent growth from 2018 to 2019 is drawing a clear curve. Especially with the background that there was already a 26.8 percent increase in new registrations compared to 2017. Expressed in absolute numbers: 16,395 large scooters were newly registered in 2019, 13,838 in 2018 and 10,915 in 2017.

The market in Germany is still dominated by Piaggio with a 53.2 percent market share, followed by Honda (11.1%), Kymco (8.6%), BMW (7.9%), Yamaha (7.8%), Peugeot (3.4%), Suzuki (2.5%), Quadro Tecnologie (2.2%), Sym (1.6%) and Daelim (0.8%).
