Thanks to British businessman Stuart Garner, Norton Motorcycles seems set to rise from the ashes. The British manufacturer has just received the key to the marketing of its new motorcycles: the certificate confirming the approval and compliance of the splendid Commando 961 with the Euro 3 standard (see in particular).

Norton in Moto GP ?

The installation of the new Norton Motorcycles premises near Donington Park (the former Moto GP circuit replaced by Silverstone) owes nothing to chance: Stuart Garner has in fact never hidden his desire to reconnect with the glorious sporting past of the brand (three world titles in Grand Prix in the early 1950s) by entering a Norton in MotoGP from the 2012 season !

"They sent letters asking for their acceptance," confirms Carmelo Ezpeleta, boss of Dorna (MotoGP rights manager) to MCN. "But we told them that when they made it clear which motorcycle and what engine they intended to race with, only then could we move forward.".

It remains to design a MotoGP prototype: rumors clearly show an association with for the realization of a V4 of 1000 cc, but the project seems terribly ambitious for a "young" brand like Norton. To be continued: stay connected !

"This is an important step which has just been taken by the English factory in Donington", enthuses Norton Motorcycles, specifying that the first Commandos "intended for the French market will be produced in the coming weeks".

In the short term, Norton announces a production rate "of fifteen machines per week, the motorcycles being assembled and assembled by hand".

Ambitious (see box opposite), Norton officials expect a rapid increase in the rate of production "in the months to come".

The Norton "new generation" range currently has three models: the 961 SE Commando, the 961 Commando Cafe Racer and the 961 Commando Sport..

In France, the import and distribution of these exceptional machines (nearly 20,000 euros for the Commando 961 SE!) Are handled by the Parisian dealer .
