England is a land of mechanical passion. Prestigious brands were born there; few still live but with what aura. Norton is of that caliber. Further on, other traditions, other no less rewarding manufactures, another country, almost insular in the middle of the Alps: Switzerland. Very little known on the motorcycle side (there will only have been around twenty brands, including Motosacoche), it is much more so for its watchmaking production. Including Breitling, who decided to partner with Norton to create a special edition of the 961 Commando Cafe Racer.

Adorned with a specific dress, very sober and very chic, the English cafra benefits from a few selected details. The calligraphy of the counters is similar to that of the aforementioned chronometers; the watchmaker’s emblem B is sewn on the saddle and repeated on the alternator housing. What to add a dose of charisma on this superb model with a timeless heart. Like the other Commandos, the rhythm is set by an 80 hp twin with a captivating sound. The equipment is quality, with a 43mm inverted fork and Ohlins mono-shock, beautiful spoke rims, Brembo braking with 320mm discs gripped by radial monobloc 4-piston calipers; and a sense of the essential that takes your guts more than performance.

Norton 961 Commando Cafe Racer MK II Breitling Limited Edition 2019 On the Alpine side, Breitling is offering one of its timepieces in a Premier B01 Chronograph 42 Norton Edition version. The family link is marked on the back of the watch, with the Norton symbol and the design of a Commando adorning the transparent caseback.
Just there, you have the price of a CB 650 R on your wrist.

A touch of prestige, a dose of English history, a touch of Swiss high standards for a limited series of 77 copies. The tariff must of course be considered other than by simple figures. As was the case with the MV-Agusta 1078 Brutale RR JeanRichard. Especially when the protagonists have more their place in a jewelry store than on the road.
