This technique allows very precise 3D molds to be pressed. There is no need to laminate by hand.

In this article:

  • Cyberpunk made of carbon
  • Spoked rim with carbon
  • Titanium exhaust
  • Conclusion

as Yamaha presented the XSR 700 and in 2015 as a custom bike ex works, particular emphasis is placed on explaining that the tank cover and the bolted rear frame will delight customizers around the world. and Yamaha was right: Countless modifications of the XSR followed and that of the Officine GP Design is the most recent. And it is also largely based on the standard conversion friendliness of the Yamaha XSR 700.

Cyberpunk made of carbon

In cyperpunk-style designs, visionary shapes and materials meet a large portion of anarchy. Everything is allowed, the main thing is that it looks as if it were completely normal in a distant, dystopian morning. This is exactly the path taken by the Officina GP Design men from Italy with their yard built based on the XSR 700. The entire body is made of carbon and is realized using forged carbon. In this process, scraps of carbon are pressed into a mold together with resin and allowed to harden under pressure. The process allows much more precise components and industrial production is much easier. Fun fact: The doors of the Maserati MC20 are made with this method and so is the tailgate of the Toyota Prius Prime from 2017.

Spoked rim with carbon

The carbon issue is also consistently continued with the rims. One turns at the back Spoked rim with carbon cover by Jonich. The milled front aluminum rim comes from the same manufacture, each covered with the STR rally tires from Pirelli. In the standard steering head is a USB fork with radially hinged Brembo saddles and double discs. The ABS is still active, which makes approval possible. A cascade of rectangular LED headlights in a printed aluminum housing hangs between the new fork legs, while the cockpit with fittings remains as standard

Titanium exhaust

The radical look of the forged carbon is underlined by the custom-made titanium product, which winds its way backwards from the 700 twin as a 2-in-2 system. HP Corse forms the new exhaust system and places the two mufflers symmetrically high on the new rear fairing. This is completed by a polygonal rear light in the aluminum housing.

Many are beautiful, but also impassable.

Better to leave it in its original condition.

Conclusion

Original sound from the conference: “I only do the part if there is something extraordinary in the production. The cart is ugly.” In fact, the chronicler stumbles upon the translation “forged carbon” and begins the search: he finds a completely unknown process for the production of parts from carbon. Great technology with a unique look. Unfortunately: It doesn’t really change anything “interesting” Appearance of the yard built by Officine GP Design. Taste is subjective, the Yamaha is always crafted with cleanliness.
