More and more motorcyclists are loading their bikes onto a trailer, pickup or van for long journeys. The provider Porteos from southern France now offers an extremely convenient loading option with its telescopic ramp system.

Expandable in length and height
A stable ladder frame, in which a second frame made of box profiles is guided, serves as the basis. The base frame is permanently mounted at four points in the vehicle, on the loading area or on the trailer. The inner frame, on which a front wheel rocker is slidingly mounted, can be extended and tilted backwards. For a surcharge, holding systems for two front wheels are also available so that trikes and quads can also be loaded. The maximum loading height in series production is up to 90 centimeters, depending on the system. With optional accessories, loading heights of up to 150 centimeters are also possible. The systems offer loading lengths of 2.1 and 2.5 meters, but can also be extended by 75 centimeters. The dead weight is between 65 and 75 kilograms, the permissible load is given as 450 kilograms – that’s enough even for extremely heavy motorcycles.
Cordless screwdriver as a drive
A worm gear is mounted on the front of the base frame, with which the ramp can be drawn in via belts and also lowered hydraulically with damping. The worm gear is simply driven by a cordless screwdriver. With a little practice, the complete charging process should not take longer than a minute.
Real manual labor is actually only required when driving the motorcycle into the front wheel rocker and when unhitching the load securing.
The prices for the Porteos loading system start at 1,790 euros, extension modules for the two frame parts cost 200 euros, the holding system for two front wheels is charged at 330 euros, the quad adapter for the rear wheels costs an additional 120 euros. So far, however, the French only offer dealers in their home country and in Belgium.
