Decline in gasoline: the state is filling up … with malcontents !

This small decrease will be supported in equal parts between the State and the oil companies, which represents for the State an effort "of approximately 300 million euros", estimates the Minister of the Economy and Finance, Pierre Moscovici, who specified that this measure put in place for a period of three months would be followed by "a more lasting mechanism".
"Prices will drop to 6 cents at the pump, 3 cents for oil tankers and 3 cents for the state. It’s a substantial effort: in practice, it’s a euro and a half less for a full 25 liters ", he assured.
And the price freeze, then ?
First observation: the decline on which the Socialists have communicated so much is proving to be much more modest than expected. While the liter of SP95 exceeds € 1.65 on average and that of diesel is close to € 1.50, many were hoping for a more substantial boost from the new government.
Deeming the measure "insufficient", the association of consumers CLCV (Consumption, housing and living environment) estimates that this decrease represents at best only "twelve euros of savings per month" for a consumer who spends more than 200 ".
While he had declared during his campaign wanting to "block fuel prices", François Hollande finally backed down and was content to draw on the jackpot pocketed by the State thanks to its taxes on "black gold ". According to the Ministry of the Environment, the share of TIPCE (internal tax on the consumption of energy products) and VAT on a liter of fuel indeed reached between 49.2% (diesel) and 57.2% (SP95) in 2011.
This abundantly publicized "decline" therefore appears to be fairly measured – not to say anecdotal -, especially as this "effort of around 300 million euros" will have to be met in one way or another by the citizens. … From where a certain feeling of fed up for the consumer, who is tired of being "pumped" by governments of the left as of the right ensuring that they cannot provide more efforts !
"We are asking for the implementation of a" floating TICPE ", as François Hollande had mentioned during the presidential elections. It would thus prevent the State from making more profits to the detriment of the consumer", declared in this regard , Didier Bollecker, President of the Automobile Club Association (ACA). "During an increase in the price of oil, the drop in TICPE would offset the increase and no longer penalize the consumer. The state would still maintain a satisfactory level of revenue," he assures..
Uneven drops depending on the station
In addition, Pierre Moscovici did not specify whether the amount of the decrease concerned both the price of diesel and that of gasoline. A major omission, since diesel represents 80% of fuel sales in France !
Finally, it appears that the decrease will not be 6 euro cents in all stations: some distributors have already indicated that they were not in a position to cover a reduction of 3 cents. !
At Total, "the effort" would rather be limited to 2 cents and 1 to 3 cents at Leclerc and Système U, while the few stations still owned by independents have already warned that their reductions would be modeled on those granted by their suppliers . And not a dime more…
Conclusion: to make real savings, the easiest way is still to favor the motorbike or the scooter in your daily trips, especially in town where a two-wheeler sneaks easily between diesel minivans and other sedans exceeding 150 hp, who are on the spot with the air conditioning fully…
