Father Suzuki Bandit 1250 S in the test

Oops! He did it again!

What Britney Spears can do, Suzuki specialist father has been able to do for a long time: just do it again, namely cheap tuning for the Suzuki Bandit 1250 S..

While Britney Spears in the song "Oops! He did it again!" struggles with her emotional life, the bandit specialists (www.motorrad-vater.de) from Swabia have no reason to regret. On the contrary! Almost exactly six years ago (MOTORRAD 15/2010) a 1250 bandit visited the Jens Vater had lent a hand in the editorial office. The philosophy from then is still valid today: No unnecessary effort, please.

Father-Suzuki-Bandit 1250 S significantly more agile than series

Suzuki tuner father changes absolutely nothing on the tried and tested four-cylinder of the big bandit – good for the stability.

The result is astonishing: While the series Bandit with 108 HP and 112 Nm is not really underpowered, the 2010 father-Suzuki-Bandit 1250 S with 126 horses and 124 Nm raised the bar a whole lot higher. It is therefore all the more astonishing that the current expansion stage, the difference of which is essentially the complete SR system instead of an SR pot on a modified series manifold, adds another one: the test bench spits out 135 hp and 128 Nm. Respect! Although, to be honest, this is not the whole truth, because the overstrained catalytic converter dissolved during the first test bench runs. The bandit then had to be measured without a Kat. Experience has shown that with a proper catalytic converter, performance will drop by around five hp. Which would still be worth honoring, because let’s remember: The engine itself remains untouched. Of course, the damper can only be registered with Kat, also because of the noise.

Speaking of noise: a Suzuki never sounded so much like the old Kawasaki Z 900 as this one, including the sputtering in push mode. For some, the aggressive barking may be a little too loud. The plus in power does not remain without consequences for the driving dynamics: From zero to 100 km / h it means 3.5 to 3.3 seconds in series against father-Suzuki-Bandit 1250 S, at 200 km / h it is even 14, 2 to 10.3 seconds.

Even on this side of full throttle, the father-Suzuki-Bandit 1250 S is much more agile than the series, without forgetting the good manners. Although at least the engine of the test machine runs quite rough at higher speeds. Moved comfortably, it even needs less than five liters, in fast-forward mode it can be two liters more. Nothing has changed since the predecessor.
