Presentation of the Honda Rebel – model year 2017
New entry-level Honda
Somewhat surprisingly, Honda presented a new cruiser for the 2017 model year. The newest member of the Honda family is called the Honda Rebel.
Formerly a 125cc, Honda brings it R.ebel now new and as a 500. The two-cylinder bobber should appeal to younger beginners with a low seat height of 690 millimeters and a manageable, driver’s license A2-compliant power of 46 hp. The water-cooled engine comes from the CBR 500 R manufactured by Honda in Thailand, has received a newly tuned injection and is more powerful in the Honda Rebel with a little more maximum torque, namely 45 Nm at 6000 rpm.
The Honda Rebel is only equipped with the bare essentials, the cockpit, for example, consists only of an LC display for the speedometer and fuel gauge in a simple round housing – puristic. In addition, the rather minimalist pillion bun and the passenger footrests can be unscrewed with little effort to turn the Rebel into a cool single-seater. ABS is mandatory, front and rear decelerate each individual disc. In Germany, the 190 kilo twin will be available from May 2017. A price has not yet been determined, but should be around 6,000 euros.
