The Sur-Ron Storm Bee, in English the “storm bee”, is to come in both an off-road and an on-road version and be stronger and faster than the Sur-Ron Firefly.

M.ith 110 km / h top speed, the Sur-Ron Storm Bee electric motorcycle will be significantly faster than the smaller Firefly, which with its 2.05 kW rated continuous output and 47 kg weight (without battery) can reach a top speed of 72 km / h.

Despite the aluminum frame, the Sur-Ron Storm Bee will be heavier than its little sister. It could be 118 kilograms for the off-road version, and 127 kilograms for the road-legal version. It comes with LED headlights, taillights and indicators as well as license plate holders, mirrors and road tires. ABS and an interface for smartphone coupling will also be on board.

Up to 100 km range

In terms of range, a 4.6 kWh battery should provide around 100 kilometers, while the electric motor provides 22.5 kW (30 PS). The battery will be equipped with powerful Sony VTC6 cells. The Sur-Ron Storm Bee also carries a 150 V sine regulator. This leaves a lot of leeway to equip the storm bee with a battery with a higher voltage than the standard 96-volt package.

The suspension on the front wheel is provided by an adjustable upside-down fork with 290 millimeters of travel, and an adjustable mono-spring strut with 290 millimeters of travel at the rear.

Nothing is known about the market launch, except that it should start in Australia at the end of 2019.

Conclusion

The Sur-Ron Storm Bee closes the gap between small electric two-wheelers, the AM class and full-blown electric motorcycles that travel well over 100 km / h – and accordingly cost more. How much the storm bee will cost is not yet known. The Chinese manufacturer was previously known for its rather moderate pricing.
