When the Speed Triple landed in 1994, it already smacks of character roadster. The 3-cylinder is there, the taste of cafe racer full mouth, the desire to jostle latent, the imminent affront. And then, it is the shock with the T509 version of 1997. From roadster, one passes to streetfighter; with thug pieces and attributes that will make him famous, intimidating, almost mythical.
From 97 to today, the essentials have remained: a sports chassis, from the big 955 Daytona, a superb single-sided arm, a 3-legged full of punch and a hypnotic double optic. Over the years, generations, technology has evolved, style has asserted itself, performance has increased. And the Speed continues to stir up emotions.
Triumph offers him a special edition 94, a subtle and nostalgic tribute to 21 years of gouape. The bike uses the same colors as the very first Speed. Only black will be available in France – too bad, because Racing Yellow is perfectly suited to the commemorative spirit and the temperament of the big Triple.
A color, and some particularities especially intended for connoisseurs. Like the logos borrowed from the 1994 vintage, or the commemorative plaque inlaid on the tank. Another specificity, a black finish on the exhausts and the tank cap. The Speed 94 is also distinguished by the presence of a screen, an engine guard and a seat cowl. The endowment is sensitive but Hinckley could have done something more impactful or even disturbing to celebrate a motorcycle of this stature..
The Speed triple MK1 produced 98 horsepower from its 885cc engine. The Speed 94 retained this architecture, with a cubic capacity which reached 1050 cm3 for a power of 135 hp. Chassis as an engine allow you to have fun and adopt a sporty rhythm at will. Excellent frame, inverted fork and Brembo brake caliper know how to talk to the road. Gentlemen and thugs, the Speed 94 shouldn’t disappoint you.
