Triumph 955 SPRINT ST 2001

Menus

When it appeared at the end of the last century, the Sprint ST was seen as an elegant and convincing sport-GT. Without fear and without reproach, it counted well dethroned the reference of the category, namely the Honda 800 VFR. The bet was daring but his qualities were up to his claims.
There is above all this line, superb, slender, with that little touch that distinguishes British motorcycles from other productions. Very close in spirit, with the same half-road-half sport positioning, the VFR and the Sprint ST both have a beautiful fairing, a beefy and imperial perimeter frame, a magnificent single-sided arm, and yet neither resemble the ‘other.

In dynamics, the Triumph deserves nothing but praise. the mechanics come from the sporty Daytona, a captivating 3-cylinder 955 cm3, revised to offer more torque. By its sound and its character, this engine is a real delight. A little tight in maximum speed, the ST is intractable in times. The chassis is imperturbable, lively and stable, allowing arsenal in confidence. The Sprint has many sports genes. Except at the level of comfort, which turns out to be quite honorable. With 2 main downsides: the somewhat limited protection, and the too severe rear suspension on rough roads. The braking is seriously powerful, and endowed with an almost violent bite which can surprise the neophites. Delicate on wet pavement.
A player without complex, she can also go on a trip without problems. The passenger will be well installed, the equipment is complete and the autonomy encouraging. A good finish finishes embellishing the English, which is also allowed to afford a competitive price. Other Europeans should follow suit.
