Yamaha FZ1 1000 Abarth Assetto Corse 2009

Karl Abarth. Quite a symbol in the field of sports preparation in Italy. Recently returning, the brand experienced its heyday in the 60’s and 80’s by dealing with Fiat models. For those of you to whom it does not mean anything, identify this name with the same tuning fork as the BMW M’s or Mercedes AMG.
Originally, there is Carlo Alberto Abarth, born a century ago (November 15 to be exact). He founded his company in 1949. Very quickly, the Abarth models acquired a notoriety with the strong scent of competition. Fiat made it its official preparer in 1971. From then on, the sports versions of the Turin car brand were badged Abarth.

This partnership is today commemorated through a muscular model from another privileged partner: Yamaha, and its FZ1. 100 years of Abarth give birth to the FZ1 Abarth Assetto Corse. Limited edition or exercise in style? Still, this full-bodied FZ1 lacks neither elegance nor presence, and even less beautiful pieces of ornament. Red and white excite the retina, gold makes neurons crackle. Beautiful Marchesini rims for shoes, a very nice inverted fork with a separate Ohlins cylinder shock absorber, one-piece radial callipers by Brembo…. That’s what you immediately notice. Let’s let these names slide slowly into your mouth before we begin to engage in more subdued tastes of color. What do you say about this Akrapovic titanium exhaust? What about these Rizoma turntables and controls? And these aluminum protection plates on the casings? If your heart tells you, there is still a little matte taste floating in the air when you discover slick tires.

Ah, I forgot. Let the eye protrude from the drop in the tank. Stroke the two-tone alcantara saddle. So insist until you go up to the end of the rear of the FZ1. You will discover an arthropod encrusted on the seat cowl. The Scorpio, the symbol of Abarth.
No price or release date has been communicated. But that does not prevent us from admiring this little gem.
