One more special series for the Yamaha FZ8. Called R Line, this variation continues the line of the SP-R and Red Line. We find exactly the same equipment as on the latter. Well almost: the Lazer pot is replaced by an Akrapovic. Apart from this sound and rewarding step, we find on this FZ8 R an engine guard, side protection pads, a radiator cover and a minimalist license plate holder. Alas no sporty or shimmering decoration allowing to assert upercutement its side “special edition”.

Will being the 5th best-selling bike in France in 2011 forgive you for absolving yourself of an adequate course of action? Criticized on the suspensions side (too soft at the origin), the FZ8 has here what it takes to finally assume its role as a sporty roadster. The rear shock absorber is signed Ohlins; a guarantee of quality and a more appreciable rigor. The fork remains original, however, a set of springs with a little oil from Sweden would have concluded the package very well. The main criticism that one could make is that it is a limited series: all FZ8s should be equipped with damping worthy of generous driving. The additional cost amounts to 600 euros, which is almost the price of amortization; everything else is a bonus.
