We gave a lot of qualifiers to the XJR 1200/1300: superbike of the 80s, vintage roadster, incarnation of the classic. It is true that with its large 4 cylinders cooled by and oil, its tubular chassis could not be more traditional and its line both retro and classy, the XJR nestled in an old school atmosphere for gentleman..
In 2015, Yam shakes it all up. Recent Yard Built creations such as “Rhapsody in Blue” by Keino, “Eau rouge” or “Project X” by Deus already felt a desire for renewal. Thus, without modifying its technical and engine dimensions, the XJR 1300 is irrigated with a rebellious flow that will not fail to challenge.

“Fix it for me! Make it cool! I can’t take it any longer to be good …” The XJR has just entered a designer club; she comes out gripped alive. Some effects are subtle, others energize the machine with vigor. Did you feel like the tank-saddle duo scratched your optic nerve? Inspired by racing motorcycles, the tank is redesigned, longer, less bulky, and suddenly loses 6.5 liters of capacity. But it is the rear that marks the most. Everything has been refined, lightened, debourgeois. Without the plastic covering of the stern, the Ohlins shock absorbers and the new single-seater saddle are largely highlighted. And THE detail that changes everything: a large side cover in polished aluminum, similar to a number plate, with imitation filter inserts.
The front also tickles your nerves. The smaller lighthouse now stands with perforated plates. As for the chrome … The XJR is fed up. She wants black, much more black to assert a more “bad” side, surly. Darkness seized the fork, the mudguard, the engine, the entire exhaust line, the backs of the speedometers, mirrors, toe clips, etc….

A little higher in the saddle, the new XJR 1300 changes the riding position slightly, with a tapered and widened handlebars closer to the rider. Its engine is renewed with all that its charm. 4 cylinders from the 80s releasing 98 horsepower and a little over 11 mkg of torque, 1251 cm3 of expression and fins to ventilate it all.
The more compact rear is not only held by the mono saddle but also by the shortened and simplified rear frame. The red candle caps highlight a preparation side. The calligraphy of the counters has also been revised in a more racing aspect..
