Yamaha YZF-R 125 WGP 50th Anniversary 2012

Menus

The most pistarde and the most exciting of the Yamaha 125 is dressed this year in the superb colorway WGP 50th anniversary. In 2012, the tuning fork mark celebrates 50 years of competition. Suddenly, a whole slew of models take on this particular design.. It replicates that of the MotoGP M1 during the rounds of Laguna Seca and Assen 2011, itself inspired by the Grand Prix Yam in the 60s – 70s. Something to make his half-handlebars dream a little more, especially as this sportswoman advances arguments. A silhouette of R1 ’02, a pot and a swinging arm of R6 ’06, a face like it’s not allowed … But, it’s not fair that young people are entitled to all these advantages with this news YZF-R 125 😉

Let’s get serious again and think of all the fans of the 125 who are going to enjoy this new sports car from Yamaha. Oh, the sporty 125 segment is not unknown for the brand with 3 tuning forks; far from there. The line of TZR has made many people happy over time.
Since 2008, a 125 sports on its fairing the noble letters of the sport of Yam: YZF. The machines that bore this surname are: YZF 750 R, 600 Thundercat, R6, 1000 Thunderace, R1, and the prestigious superbike R7. The youngest of the family will therefore be a 125.

It must be said that the sector is occupied by a very successful machine: the Honda CBR 125. So inevitably, it gives desires. Yamaha in turn invests the niche of the 125 replica, beautiful, taking up the strong image of its big sisters, and hopefully at an affordable price..

Aesthetically, nothing to complain about, except that it is serious. The design of the little YZF-R is faithful to the Yam hypersports philosophy: racy, provocative, very tempting.
Mechanically, it’s the same ilk: deltabox frame (steel), aluminum swingarm, double disc brakes (292 mm at the front), 6-speed gearbox, injection, forced air intake system, Modern 124.6 cc liquid-cooled engine, 4 T, 4 valves, single ACT, and clean because it is equipped with a double catalytic converter. No problem for those who want to use this machine, the gear will follow. The 15 horses developed by the Japanese single-cylinder will get by without problems to play with the little YZF.

The only small hitch is the size of the tires. 100 and 130 mm wide, that’s not too much with such a design. This is more than enough to take the pilot’s enthusiasm, but … it makes your eye wink. Besides that, fun and replica question, nothing has been forgotten by Yamaha: sport half-handlebars, dashboard type R1 2002, rear light with diodes, double-stage saddle, stylish indicators. The YZF-R 125 is not in the figuration.

Playing in the same court as the CBR 125, the YZF cross swords with it bluntly. Even if it costs 1000 euros more than the Honda, it could well steal good market share from it. His mind goes out is more marked; and with such a face, we turn heads. A nice fight in progress.
