Zongshen 125 ZS-R 2006

Zongshen, do you know? No. But yes, remember a certain red Suzuki GSX-R 1000 that was playing in the World Endurance Championship. Still not … And yet it is one of the biggest motorcycle manufacturers in Asia. If we do not know him much in Europe, it is precisely because he mainly sells… in Asia.

The ZSR is thus the first from the manufacturer to land in France. If it does not revolutionize the genre, it is on the other hand very attractive and super well placed in terms of price. For less than 2,500 €, this urban roadster is not stingy on the goods. Sympathetic line and a bit sporty decoration, small fork crown, mini engine spoiler, center stand, 2 disc brakes, luggage rack, ultra-complete dashboard with tachometer, reserve indicator, voltmeter and even a power indicator. gear engaged (For 2005, we will only see it on this bike and on the new GSX-R 1000 and ZX-6R) … With all that, we say to ourselves that they must have made big savings on the engine and put in the frame a plastic mill running on adulterated fuel oil. Nay !

The Chinese mono is a 4-valve with double ACT which develops a little more than 12 hp. If it is not as efficient as the tenors of the category (MZ RT in the lead), it can on the other hand be flexible in town but also virulent when the road clears up. The chassis of the ZSR gives it liveliness and precision, which road peripherals do not serve at best: Starting with the tires, frankly average. Then by the shock absorbers, not great either. And we will end with the fork. Sharing the same fault as the Honda CG, it cannot withstand strong braking. On this point, the single front disc is doing pretty well. Very affordable, consuming nothing, comfortable and very well motorized, the Zongshen ZSR promises to be a hell of a bargain. It will just be necessary to be satisfied with an outdated damping and pneumatic mounting, as well as an endless 5th gear ratio.
