Below are the statements of the drivers who animated the Superport race on Sunday. Honor to the winner !
Jules Cluzel (Yamaha n ° 16), 1st:
"I’m super happy. Winning two races in a row is great! It never happened to me, it seems to me. But this race was really tough, different from Assen but also tough. The pace didn’t happen. was not very fast, I tried to do my best. Lucas passed me at the start of the race and I could not follow him without making a mistake, quite simply … So I concentrated on my race Then Fede (Federico Caricasulo, second Yamaha factory rider, Editor’s note) made a mistake too and from there, I just tried to stay focused until the end, to postpone the battle until the last turn. There I breathed well, I did my best to prevent any attack and that’s what happened ".
Federico Caricasulo (Yamaha n ° 64), 2nd:
“It’s always good to be on a podium! I’m not that happy for the race, but I’m happy because I’m back in the championship: I’m only 12 points behind the leader. I went well, I attacked really hard to get away with Lucas, but we both made a small mistake. In the second part of the race, I managed to catch up with the leading group. 2nd position but when I didn’t manage to pass Jules Cluzel because he came out stronger from the corners. I couldn’t do anything without taking too many risks. I’m very excited for Donington because I feel that my team and I are very strong now. We just need to work on our acceleration, coming out of the corners. My team did an incredible job all weekend, without making any mistakes and the championship is now much closer and more interesting! "
Rafaelle de Rosa (MV Agusta n ° 3), 3rd:
"I’m very happy to be back on the podium, although I think I had the potential to get a better result. My bike turned out perfect during the race, which means we are doing a great job. with the chassis. Unfortunately I didn’t have a lot of power coming out of the corner and I couldn’t keep the first position after overtaking Cluzel. We are working hard with the team and if we continue like this we can fight for the podium in every race ".
Sandro Cortese (Yamaha n ° 11), 4th:
"Superb race for my first at Imola today! Too bad to miss the podium after such a great battle. Thanks to the Kallio Racing Team for the excellent work, once again".
Randy Krummenacher (Yamaha n ° 21), 5th:
"A very difficult weekend. I was not doing well and I’m still weak now. I couldn’t work with the team to find the best set-up for the race, but I’m happy in the end. started eleventh, gained many positions, and scored points that allow me to take the lead in the championship. As I said before, it was doubly important for me to get a good result today ‘hui because I was racing with a special livery dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the partnership between Hostettler and Yamaha Switzerland who support me in my fight for the title. I thank everyone: the sponsors, the supporters and my team, they always know how to to put in the best possible conditions even when the situation is complicated. Special thanks to my family and my girlfriend, fundamental both professionally and emotionally ".
Lucas Mahias (Yamaha # 144), 8th:
"The result is not perfect, but I will take the positive points of the day. I started from pole, I attacked hard in the lead, I created a big gap and I completed the lap on faster in the race. I fell of course, but it can happen in the race, when you play with the limit. But then again, you have to note that I was able to come back, attack hard and fight to finish eighth. C ‘was good for the championship and despite this result I’m still second in the provisional. We don’t have to be in the dark, we have to focus on the fact that I was strong and fast, that I felt good on the bike. I’m already focusing on the next race in Donington ".
Kenan Sofuoglu (Kawasaki n ° 54), 1st in the pits (!):
“Friday went well and on Saturday we landed the first row in the Superpole. It was a really big moment for me to be here. Dorna, Kawasaki and my team put on a really nice event yesterday. I felt that I wasn’t really physically ready to take part in this race. It could have gone wrong, I could have crashed with some of the championship favorites. It felt like I was ruining someone’s championship. I was there for the performance, not the win, and I considered the show to be over. I got on the grid, in the front row, and said goodbye to everyone. I think that it was the best decision to make. Honestly, I didn’t know what I was going to do again this morning. I only decided not to run a few minutes before the start. My team was surprised, but they respected my will. I didn’t want to break a promise to my family. Thank you everyone. Thank you Jonathan Rea who came to my farewell conference at the Paddock Show, to my Turkish pilots as well as to all my Turkish fans. I was happy to be here, moreover I did not choose to retire: it was my family and all those around me who persuaded me. I’m here to say goodbye to the competition and to thank everyone ".
