Rossi can pass 6000 points in Moto GP at Brno !
Valentino Rossi, 2nd in the provisional MotoGP 2018 46 points behind Marquez, is able to reach a new record illustrating his longevity this weekend in the Czech Republic: if he finishes in the Top 10, the Doctor will bring his total to 6,000 points scored in the world championship. Unheard of in the history of the motorcycle Grand Prix !
The counter of the famous n ° 46 shows the staggering balance of 5994 points as the MotoGP season begins its second part this weekend with the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic. Which means Rossi only needs to finish tenth to score the six small points that separate him from the 6,000 units, a record never achieved by any other driver. !

In view of his consistency at the forefront – five podiums in nine races this year – this goal seems easily achievable for the Yamaha official. Especially since the Brno circuit is one of his favorites: it is on this track that he scored his very first motorcycle Grand Prix victory in 1996, on a 125cc Aprilia.
Since that date, the Doctor has distinguished himself seven times on the Czech track, including five times in the premier category. His last victory in Brno dates back to 2009, however, the year of his ninth – and so far, last – world title. Another unfavorable statistic: the transalpine has not won a single victory since the GP of the Netherlands last year, that is to say already 18 races without success….
An important day of testing for Yamaha
"We really want this first victory," admits the Italian star, who hasn’t been able to win with the M1 for over a year like his team-mate Maverick Viñales. "Monday we will also have a test day, which promises to be important," he said..
The Iwata coat of arms indeed plans to introduce important developments on its official M1s, in particular to improve the electronics which, according to its pilots, constitute the main Achilles heel of Yamaha. Will this solve all the problems? Not sure according to team manager Massimo Meregalli…
"Pilots mainly complain about the electronics," said the Italian leader. "I think this is an area where we really have to progress, this being I don’t think that explains everything. We are working on a whole package: from electronics, to the engine, including the chassis. I really hope that what we are going to receive will help us ".
Since last year Rossi and Viñales – and more recently Zarco – have been complaining about the M1’s lack of traction on some tracks. To try to alleviate this problem, the engineers have for the moment been content to make slits on the rear fender in order for the air to cool the tire, and thus limit its overheating. Without much success…
"There are still ten races to go, so if we can get something more then this second half of the season could be interesting for us," said Meregalli. For his part, Valentino Rossi expects to go through a "busy period" insofar as two races will follow one another in a fortnight: the Czech Republic GP, followed by the Austrian GP.
"It will be crucial to get a good result, whether in Brno and in Austria", predicts the dean of the MotoGP field who would have also "liked to take more advantage of the summer break, but the time has come to refocus" . Because casually, at the dawn of his 40 years, "Vale" is in the best position to take advantage of a hypothetical misstep by the leader Marc Marquez. !
