Below are the statements of the drivers who animated the Supersport race on Sunday. Honor to the winner !
Jules Cluzel (Yamaha n ° 16), 1st:
"Wow! I’m super happy! It was frankly incredible, 19 super long laps that I led from start to finish. You couldn’t make a mistake, and I haven’t made one. that Snadro (Cortese) was trying to attack me, I replied straight. Because I had the means to reply, that was cool. I really thought that the penultimate round was the last … When I saw that there was no checkered flag I said to myself “oh nan, nan, not another one (laughs)!” I really gave everything to make a very nice last lap, we succeeded and I am super happy. Thanks to everyone, it was really incredible, there were a lot of you and it was beautiful to see ".
Sandro Cortese (Yamaha n ° 11), 2nd:
"This second place is very important. We did not feel very strong all weekend, I did not facilitate anything by falling in Superpole. We just tried to stay calm, which was hard on French soil. with the French drivers at the forefront, very fast in each session. I went to bed yesterday telling myself that I had to stay calm, do my best. The warm-up this morning went well, ditto for the race although I struggled a bit at the start I had a very good pace. It was only in the last four laps that my front tire performance dropped. I almost crashed three times in the same lap. So I thought to myself that it was better to hang on to second place, score 20 important points. We leave for Argentina. I think today the main advantage of my opponents was knowing the track, as I was driving here for the first time. I think I can consider myself satisfied ".
Lucas Mahias (Yamaha n ° 144), 3rd:
"It’s fantastic to finish on the podium at Magny-Cours in front of my home crowd. I consider it a victory actually, because of my injury and the fact that it’s been so long since I’ve been on the podium! I injured myself last night, slipping out of my shower: it’s a bit weird, I’m a bit ashamed. Because of that, I took the start without knowing if I could run more than two laps. , I was able to fight in front and finish on the podium, so I’m happy. I didn’t attack too much before the very end because of the pain in my foot. With three laps to go, I had could see the guys in front of me starting to struggle with the grip and that’s where I started pushing. I passed Federico, who unfortunately crashed, and finished on the podium, which is good for me and for my team ".
Randy Krummenacher (Yamaha n ° 21), 5th:
“I am leaving the circuit a little better placed in the overall standings than I was after Portimao. I was tied with third and now I’m third with eight points ahead of fourth. It wasn’t an easy race, especially at the start, but I’m happy because I gave it my all and couldn’t have done better. After the 10th lap I started to accelerate, with times similar to those of the group lead, but I was already too far away to reach them. We have two races to run, in San Juan, Argentina on October 14, then in Qatar on October 27. I am confident and my goal is to get back on track. the podium, I hope to do it well and finish the 2018 season as well as possible ".
Corentin Perolari (Yamaha n ° 24), 6th:
"It’s great. It was so good to be with them, with the top drivers. It’s a shame that I made this square and was in too much of a hurry to come back. I didn’t think the The race was so long that I should have taken a little more time to avoid damaging my rear tire. That will serve as an experience for me next time. I can’t wait for Argentina! "
Federico Caricasulo (Yamaha n ° 64), 13th:
“It was a tough race today. The pace was fast every lap, from the start, but I had a really good pace and I was able to stay with the leading group the whole race. In the last one. lap I put pressure on Cortese, while defending my position against Lucas, but I got into turn 13 too quickly, widened and the front got stuck. good job this weekend but I think we need to find some small improvements for the next two races as we were losing in some places to the other two Yamaha riders today ".
