The chassis of the XB-12 seems to be the source of an inexhaustible combination for Erik Buell in terms of possible variations. Latest: the Ulysses XT – a lower version and better equipped to cut the road than the standard Ulysses. More road, just as flashy and still also Buell, this other edition of the Ulysses, named XB12XT, comes out of the ruts to venture on the asphalt ribbons with softer profiles.
In this XT version, the Ulysses comes a little closer to the ground. The suspension travel is reduced by 40 mm. The saddle covered with a 2-tone fabric is 28 mm lower compared to the XB12 X. These modifications reduced the seat height to 780 mm, making the XT more accessible than the X (the Scg roadster had already inaugurated this formula). This effort for comfort is reinforced by the heated grips and the saddlebags, here fitted as standard. Protection is enhanced by the adoption of a larger windshield, equipped with an instant attachment and removal system that makes cleaning easier and faster. 2 12V sockets are also present.
On the passenger side, the raised rear seat offers as much space as possible (on a motorcycle that is nevertheless quite short), a backrest further enhances the comfort, and solid grab handles allow the passenger to appreciate and contain the evolutions of the following Buell the moods of the pilot and the big American twin.
More accessible and more “long haul”, the Ulysses XT is also less adventurous than the X. As evidenced by the short suspension travel, the road tires (mixed on the X), the removal of the “all-terrain nozzle” under the headlights … Buell still kept the handguards on the handlebars, in order to keep it a little taste of provoc ‘.
The XB12XT welcomes the new version of the twin Thunderstorm. Revised, improved, cleaner, the Rican twin develops a little less power than before, in favor of Euro3 compliance and more reliability.
After shocking, arsouiller, surprise, track, and barouder, the XB12 adds a verb to its bow: travel.
