One of the most famous and best-selling Sportsters, the Iron 883 has from the start asserted its rebellious little face. It’s not THE best-selling Harley model (this role is owned by the Street Glide) but its success is enough to make you wonder why it never had a big brother..
If we wanted to keep the spirit of Iron but with more watts in the underwear, we had to take a big step and type in Fat Bob or Low Rider. Harley will reconcile all punch lovers with this new 1200 Iron. The Sportster wins there “black” stripes and a personality that will displease only one actor … the 883.
Why ? Because the 1200 offers a good deal more for just a little more. In terms of engine alone, this Sportster no longer plays in the same category. With almost 10 mkg of torque reached at just 3,500 rpm, the Evolution twin balances 36% more potato. When the 883 leaves fans of a big spoon hungry, the brother will give more cream on the dessert. When it comes to power, the balance tilts without hesitation with 67 horsepower, or 15 more than the original Iron.
Only a question of engine then? No, take a good look. Here, the small cap has been replaced by a small nose screen. As for the seat provided by the Cafe Solo saddle, we change the register with a less bulging front part and a rear designed to take the decline.
