Then, for those who want to go further, the rear buckle, built in die-cast aluminum, is bolted to the frame and offers a lot of customization possibilities. Enough to assert its style. Honda has also provided some accessories to influence you, such as a set of suitcases, a 12V socket or a small bubble; among others.
Where the purists will moan is on the engine side. No fins, a water radiator in front of the frame, 4 times more valves than cylinders. An engine not really custom, what. Where is he from ? CB 500s. After being installed in all this family, the small parallel twin comes to propel the 500 Rebel. The appearance of the engine smacks of seriousness, the interior is in tune: 8 valves, liquid cooling, almost square internal ribs (67 x 66.8 mm), double ACT, reduced friction, 180 ° timing, and a re-parameterized injection to offer a character more in line with the spirit of the motorcycle.

Boots are recommended as usual, essential even for the right leg. From the driving position, the side casing instantly attacks your calf.
No fuss on the frame side either. A custom can only be designed with a simple architecture. A subframe with steel tubes, a 41mm fork, a single 296mm front disc – with a two-piston caliper. For the rear, a swingarm also made of steel, with a shape that could not be more classic. It is accompanied by two side shock absorbers, a 240 mm brake disc with a single-piston caliper. ABS completes it all. Adjustment side, we can only play on the preload of the shock absorbers.
Some technical figures? Let’s add details such as a column angle of 30 °, a wheelbase of 1490 mm (reasonable for a custom), a seat height of 690 mm, a fuel capacity of 11.2 liters, and 16-inch wheels capped with tires. visually imposing. Not really useful a 130 gommard in the front, but it gives you a presence. Very good point, a weight under 200 kilos. In the sector, the deal is rather a crushing balance. The Rebel will only be easier to maneuver..
Let’s not miss some asperities: the blue background of the small counter is appreciable for techno fans; maybe less for others. As for the key receptacles … The steering lock block is not what we have done best as an integration, grafted onto the lower yoke. Then, you have to swing the key on the other side, on a cover between the engine and the tank, to wake up the grinding wheel.
With the CMX 500 Rebel, Honda returns to the world of custom by the border of the A2. A fun little machine, customizable and without frills.
