Xavier Simeon succeeds Vincent Philippe on the SERT Suzuki
To ensure the succession of Vincent Philippe alongside Etienne Masson and Gregg Black, the official Suzuki team in the 2020 EWC World Endurance Championship calls on former Belgian Grand Prix rider Xavier Simeon.
"Vincent Philippe, our legendary pilot, has decided to set off on new adventures after 16 years of common history and a 9th victory at the Bol d’Or this year", recalls the Suzuki Endurance Racing Team with "a lot of emotions and gratitude".

Speed rider (Superstock, Moto2 and MotoGP), Xavier Simeon will therefore ride the SERT motorcycle in 2020 after winning the 600 Superstock title in 2006 and taking the FIM Superstock 1000 podium in 2009.
For Damien Saulnier, new SERT team manager since Dominique Meliand, "the arrival of Xavier Simeon heralds a great season with three drivers who already know each other. His GP experience is an undeniable asset. Etienne, Gregg and Xavier have the same profile and I am sure that their collaboration will create a very good dynamic within the SERT ".
From R1 to GSX-R
"We got to know each other this year," confirms Etienne Masson: "he’s a person who has his head on his shoulders and someone humble. He’s a guy who rides very fast and has rhythm. It’s going to be up to us as riders to put him at ease and share our endurance experience with him. He needs to fully appreciate our bike which is different from the one he has driven all the time. the year (the Yamaha R1 of the Pierret Experiences team, Editor’s note). I am very confident because Xavier is used to racing motorcycles ".
For his part, Gregg Black has known Xavier since 2005: "we rode together until 2010, he is an efficient driver and a friend. Even though he has only been riding for a year in endurance racing, he already has a lot of experience. in motorcycle racing. I’m sure we’ll do a good job together. Xavier has my full confidence. That’s why I presented him to Damien Saulnier. With Etienne and Xavier, we have the same objectives and the same state of mind ".
