Bernhard Santer Zero S, DS and X: The light electric bikes in pictures
The new Zero X off-road bike is almost even more impressive. Instead of the 102 kilograms of the street version, it weighs just 68 kilograms.
Therefore, the difference in performance (22 instead of around 30 hp) is hardly noticeable. The Zero X accelerates to 50 km/h in two seconds. At the same time, the small wheelbase and the steep fork make it feel more like riding a bike – only the center of gravity could be a little lower.
However, a short trip over the grandstand benches at the rowing course shows that the X is not averse to even trial-type excursions. For slow, tricky manoeuvres, the perfect modulation of the drive and the immediately available torque (around 69 Nm) proves to be extremely helpful – especially since that is about twice as much as with petrol-driven 250s.
Light as a bike
Environmentally friendly in the field
Expensive to buy, cheap to maintain

Range/Performance
If the range was 300km/h, it would be a useful device. 100 km range is a … Joke.
Costs
The biggest expense goes into the battery. It lasts a maximum of 1000 charging cycles and will definitely cost €3000. That makes €3 per store.
alltogether
Laws do not lead to taking the right path but to the fact that this path becomes unsympathetic. The development of such devices is ONE step on this path and until the performance and range is sufficient for the masses, energy producers will also be based on solar, wind, tidal…-convert energy. Until then, it is up to everyone whether Otto, Diesel or Volt lead from A to B.
???
And the electricity comes out of the socket or? A few kilometers away, the next coal-fired power plant blows the dirt into the air!!!
What do you want
Fossil fuels as used in conventional vehicles are a) always finite and b) always polluted with CO2. Even if fossil fuels run out one day, you will still be able to drive electric vehicles. Nothing prevents you from using green electricity for your electric vehicle today.
Another good thing
Hopefully that would be the end of it "cult factor" an overpriced, technically outdated American brand whose drivers never (can) salute because they have to hold the parts together.
Dangerous
Drivers of these vehicles need to be more careful, not primarily pedestrians! In general, I would think it would be great if the street noise was reduced. I will never understand why in motorsport noise is still equated with performance. Quiet is sexy!
Dangerous
Silent motorcycles can be very dangerous. We rely on our ears in traffic far more than we realize. In Zermatt (Switzerland), where only electromobiles drive around, you have to be incredibly careful if you’re not used to it.
Perfect…
… for a little off-road interlude after work through the local nature. No noise, no annoyed neighbors, pedestrians or hunters,… For 5000 euros I would put one in the garage instead of my 2-stroke off-roader.
Nobody believes it
…that a rethinking of energy, or rather the switch to electric vehicles, remains cheap or ? The current energy prices, which are regularly increasing many times over, make this dream burst. But apart from that, the efficiency of the electric motors is around 80% with a V-motor at 40%, which speaks for itself ! I think the idea is great.
Each quad
and every motorcycle that drives almost silently through the city instead of using petrol is less of a burden on the environment due to less noise. Sure, there are engines that have real sound, but it’s time for a complete rethink. Very few need a two-wheeler, which absolutely needs a range of more than 80 or 100 kilometers per day. The die-hards should be told that the future belongs to electric mobility without any doubt. Inner cities and residential areas in particular would enjoy a significantly better quality of life.
