Suzuki GSX-R 600 Vs GSX-R 750 comparison test: which one to choose ?

All Duels - Comparison test Suzuki GSX-R 600 Vs GSX-R 750: which one to choose? - Lighter, faster ... and more expensive!

Redesigned (a little), lightened (a lot) and optimized (madly!) In 2011, the Suzuki GSX-R 600 and 750 appear at the top of their form. To decide between these two sports very close technically, MNC opposed them on the road and on the circuit.. Duel.

Lighter, faster … and more expensive !

Thanks

A big thank you to the association (read in particular) which welcomed us during its driving days organized on the Magny-Cours circuit. Brilliantly headed by Reims pilot Fabrice Auger, the MMS Days offer a multitude of services such as personalized support, photos taken by a pro, passenger track baptisms on an R1 and even a power bench to measure performance. of his motorcycle.

At the end of this "100% Gex" duel, establishing a real hierarchy turns into a puzzle: very similar, the GSX-R 600 and the GSX-R 750 2011 are only distinguished by a few details in the French version.

Thus, if the 599 cc block is actually more "hollow" and is aimed preferably at torturers in the red zone, its explosiveness in the turns and its lower inertia make it more "sensational" and improve its efficiency on the circuit..

Literally castrated in the upper spheres of the "horseless" tachometer, the GSX-R 750 pays a heavy price for respecting the French "cultural exception": more "beefy" at low and mid-range, the emblematic elder (the first "Gex" of 1985 cubait 750 cc) cruelly runs out of steam in full rise…

Its higher torque is nonetheless more pleasant on the secondary network and also promotes consumption: less demanded in the towers because more available, the 750 cc block burned about 0.3 l / 100 km less than that of 599 cc during our test.

The fact remains that this appreciable – and ecological – saving will require a substantial period of time to compensate for the € 1,500 that separates the GSX-R 750 from the GSX-R 600 … And with the price inflation applied to the two Suzuki in 2011, force is to recognize that they play less well "placed" vis-a-vis the competition…

Admittedly, at 11,999 euros, the GSX-R 600 is still very well positioned against a Yamaha R6 (12,499 euros). But it is now in direct comparison with the Kawasaki ZX-6R (11,999 €) and especially with this devil of Triumph Daytona 675 (11,590 euros) !

Same story for the GSX-R 750, which seems a bit "oversold" from the top of its 13,499 euros. So much so that we could outright prefer its big sister, the formidable GSX-R 1000, whose available 2010 vintage stocks are currently sold off at 13,699 euros….
