The extra fantastic toy !
Large-wheeled scooters have had limited success in France. However, behind their draw of the first of the class hide remarkable performances. The Honda SH300i, for example, is a joyful man and a great tool in the city ! Test.
And even a little bit of road !
You have to be really motivated – or not have a choice! – to go on vacation with his SH. Nevertheless, the Honda is rigorous on small roads, even curvy and badly paved. Of course, he is not a sportsman but he is healthy and reassuring.
If the suspension travel remains classic for a scooter (102mm at the front, 95 at the rear), the 16-inch wheels absorb the irregularities of the road in a very respectable comfort. This is rare in scooters which, most of the time, require you to choose between comfort and handling…
If the large wheels cut on the trunk under the saddle, they also limit the capacity of the tank which is only 9 liters. So count on a range of around 200 km in the urban cycle. Consumption is a little over 4 l / 100km, which is correct, given the performance of the machine and the pleasure that one can take on the handlebars.
The duo is done in very good conditions thanks to the vigor but also to the smoothness of the single cylinder. The passenger seat is comfortable and the luggage rack offers two nice grab handles. On the other hand, the passenger’s feet can interfere with those of the pilot because the footrests are not very well positioned..
It must already be returned ?
After a week spent in the Paris region on the handlebars of this SH300i, the return of the machine to Honda France did not come without a certain sadness – even a deep heartbreak -, so endearing is it.
In fact, rarely has a motorized two-wheeler been shown to be so well adapted to these urban and peri-urban traffic conditions. Of course, the SH300i shouldn’t be seen as a hobby purchase, but for anyone looking for a fun, efficient and yet sober utility, this is undoubtedly the ideal candidate. All for a reasonable price – compared to other maxiscoots on the market -: € 5,290 !
