Malaysian GP – Baz (crash): "I preferred to have fun than finish last"
Overseas tour ends on a negative note for Loris Baz, who suffered a crash at the 2017 Malaysian GP as his wet skills took him to the Top 10. Barely disappointed, the French especially retains his muscular passes with Valentino Rossi! MNC Statements and Analysis.
Loris Baz, Ducati-Avintia (17th in qualifying and retirement after crash during the race) : "In the setup lap, I immediately noticed that there would be no miracle. I almost fell several times. On the grid, we therefore decided to put the tire on the bike on the softer, while knowing that the race was going to be difficult. We took the risk: I preferred to have fun climbing up the standings rather than suffering over the distance of the event ".

"It worked well. I had a good start and was able to gain 11 places in the first round. I was able to fight against Rossi, it was nice. As I went, I started to lose a little grip on the right flank. I pushed a little too much forward and widened the trajectory. I downgraded a gear to avoid pulling straight, but insisting I fell. would rather end this way after having fun than appearing last ".
"I was able to compete against Rossi with fairings, I had fun. The results of the tour are mixed, because we saw that everyone had progressed while for us it is more difficult (18th in Australia, Editor’s note). We did a good performance at Motegi (10th, Editor’s note) and we had a very decent start to the race at Sepang. We will try to score points in Valence to conclude my years in MotoGP as best as possible "…

Site analysis: Double or double … Loris Baz took enormous risks in the wet at Sepang, aware that the Malaysian GP was his to shine in MotoGP. The rainy and slippery conditions usually smile on him, "Baz-ooka" gave everything on his Ducati GP15 in soft tire !
Within a few laps, his offensive strategy worked perfectly: the Haut-Savoyard, who qualified 17th, climbed to 12th place in his first lap before moving to 8th position in his fourth and fifth round! Unfortunately, this meteoric rise will not go any further for the Avintia pilot, victim of a loss of the front end in turn 7…
- MotoGP 2018 Mercato :
Far from harboring any regrets about this third white result this season, Loris Baz is delighted on the contrary to have been able to fight in the Top 10 with leaders like Valentino Rossi. The n ° 76, delighted to have been able to cross swords with the Doctor, was not impressed by the solid gold record of the n ° 46, to which he literally returned blow for blow !
Still in search of one, Loris now hopes to be able to complete a great last race in Valencia on November 12, to end in style his three-year experience in MotoGP..
Signing a good result would be doubly advantageous because it could allow him to come back to Alex Rins in the final standings: the Spanish rookie on the Suzuki is currently ahead of him by only one small point in 17th place (46 points against 45) !
