San Marino GP – Marquez (2nd): "Dovi was so strong that I decided to aim for second place"
Marc Marquez, second in the 2018 San Marino Grand Prix, continues on his way to his fifth MotoGP world title: the Honda rider now has a 67 point lead in the provisional over Dovizioso, winner in Misano ! Debriefing.
Marc Marquez, Honda-Repsol (5th in qualifying and 2nd in race): "We are very happy with this podium because we knew that on this track, the Ducatis would be very fast and they were! "But we fought well and we stayed very close. I got off to a good start, then it took a while to warm up the tires. I managed to close the small gap forward, but Dovi was so strong today that I decided to aim for second place ".
"I am ready for Aragon"
"Then I was behind Jorge who was faster. I continued to attack to try something, then he crashed. So we end up in the second place we want and above all with 67 points in the championship, which is very important. I’m happy, I feel comfortable on the bike and I’m ready for Aragon, a track that I really like ".

Site analysis : Strategic race for Marc Marquez, who quickly realized how difficult it was to beat the Ducatis at Misano. The reigning world champion must once again bow down to the Italian brand, as in the two previous Grands Prix in – theater of a double "Dovizioso-Lorenzo" – then in, where "Jorgeuil" had won with authority.
However, Marquez did not spare himself in Italy and his fight with Lorenzo for second place was even the main animation of this Grand Prix of San Marino! A fight at daggers drawn, very intense but without low blows: the two future teammates at Honda in 2019 put on the show until the fall of the Mallorcan in the penultimate lap … It promises for next year !

Marquez, not unhappy to be rid of a Lorenzo who blocked his access to second place, climbed on his sixth successive podium, his tenth this season. The Catalan joins the great Mike Hailwood on the shelves in terms of the number of Grand Prix podiums: already 112 since his debut in 2008 !
The official Honda rider is all the more satisfied as his advantage in the championship continues to grow, due to lack of consistency from his opponents. Marquez arrived at Misano with 59 points ahead of Rossi, he left with his former runner-up – only 7th at home! – drops to third place.
A good operation for the quadruple MotoGP world champion, whose communicative smile nevertheless twitched twice in Misano: the first time when to put an end to their dispute, the second when he replaced Tito Rabat.

"Arriving in MotoGP with money is not the right way to do it", scolded the n ° 93, referring to the lack of experience and results of the young Frenchman and the notoriously paying character of the handlebars offered by the Spanish team … An opinion shared by Cal Crutchlow, who considers the Avintia team "silly" while fully understanding that Chistophe Ponsson does not let such an opportunity pass. !
As for Marquez‘s teammate, Dani Pedrosa, he finished 6th in San Marino after difficult qualifying ended in 11th position. The n ° 26, inconsistent since the announcement of his, admits that his performance is "of course insufficient, because we are still far from where we would like to be".
"Pedro" – strongly expected to become a test driver at KTM – will try to find better settings this Monday during private tests involving the HRC, Aprilia and KTM. Remember that the Orange brand is once again using French .
