Argentinian GP 2019 – Lorenzo (12th): "Unfortunately I played with bad luck"…
Jorge Lorenzo misses his second appointment on the official Honda, this time due to the unintentional actuation of the speed limit device used by MotoGP in the pit lane… Marquez’s teammate finishes the Argentinian GP in 12th place and is 14th in the world championship … Debriefing.
Jorge Lorenzo, Honda-Repsol (12th in qualifying and 12th in race)
“First of all, I would like to congratulate the Repsol Honda team and Marc Marquez on their victory. Marc has been fantastic all weekend. In the warm-up we made a lot of progress, I was able to go faster. and feel good ".

"Unfortunately I was unlucky from the start because I touched the speed limiter (used in the pits, Editor’s note). When I noticed it, I was last … But I fought and I was able to come back, even if we obviously cannot be satisfied with this result ".
Site analysis : The good news for Jorge Lorenzo is that he is making progress on the HRC Honda … The three-time MotoGP world champion is indeed going from la to la … but at this rate, he will take his first victory in the last third of the season !
More seriously, the n ° 99 has again completely missed its race and this time invokes a chain of "strange and unlucky" events … The new official driver of the HRC first accidentally triggered the "pit -limit "on the grid, probably thinking of activating the assistance at the start.
His motorcycle was thus found restrained to 60 km / h (maximum speed in the pit lane) while the others sped at full speed, especially the Ducati GP19 which have a new system called "holeshot device" which seems to intervene on the trim to improve power transmission to the ground.
In short, Lorenzo was at a standstill … He also considerably embarrassed the unfortunate Johann Zarco, since the Frenchman had to go full throttle instead! But the misfortunes of the former Ducati rider did not stop there: the foam of his left grip then left to shreds, hampering his movements, moreover still affected by his recent injuries….
And the snow is too soft…
"Nothing was going on this race, especially since the grip was very bad after the passage of Moto2 and because of the warmer conditions", still blows Calimorenzo for whom life is really po fair…
"From the outside, it looks like I’m looking for excuses," he admits, aware of the image. "But it’s unbelievable what’s been going on in the last two races," laments the No. 99 who had already missed his start in Qatar due to a problem with the clutch.
Jorge Lorenzo is certain, however: when this "unlucky" episode is over, he will return to the forefront. In view of his talent and the sparks achieved with the Ducati at the end of his contract, MNC is inclined to take his word for it: a serene Lorenzo in full possession of his means is practically invincible.
However, he will have to improve his pace greatly, far below the leaders throughout this Argentine weekend. Lorenzo only signed the 14th fastest time of the race at 1.061 sec (!) Of the record signed by the winner Marc Marquez, his new box neighbor who rides the same bike….
The slowest Honda rider in the Argentine GP
More worrying, his fastest lap in 1’40.487 is the slowest achieved by a Honda on Sunday! and are at the top of the timesheet (1’39.426 and 1’39.868), while Nakagami signs the 10th fastest time in 1’40.259 on his significantly less developed RCV.
In other words: with or without this problem at the start, the n ° 99 was not in a position to achieve a bang in Argentina. Under these conditions, it is difficult to see him end Marquez’s invincibility in Austin during the next GP of the Americas on April 14….
In the championship, Jorge Lorenzo has only seven points and occupies 14th place in the provisional between beginners Joan Mir and Miguel Oliveira. His teammate, the new leader in the general standings, has already won in two races the trifle of 38 additional units (45 points) !
