Aprilia will start the FMI Aprilia Sport Production Championship in Italy in 2020 – a racing class to promote young talent. The Aprilia RS 250 SP, for which the price has now been announced, will be driven.

For this purpose, a brand cup will be launched in 2020 as part of the Campionato Italiano Velocità – CIV Junior 2020 – in which the youngsters will compete against each other with identical Aprilia RS 250 SP four-stroke racers. Six races are planned in Italy, and drivers aged 11 and over can participate. At the EICMA presentation in November, there wasn’t really much information about the new Aprilia at first. Fortunately, that has now changed at the beginning of May 2020.

The 250cc racing machine is said to be around 35 kilograms lighter than the RS 125 for the road and thus offer an attractive power-to-weight ratio of 105 kilograms. The engine should make 28 hp. Otherwise Aprilia donated aluminum rims from Marchesini, suspension elements from Ohlins, Brembo brakes, an exhaust system from SC-Project and tires from Pirelli to the young racing motorcycle. The racing machines are set up by Aprilia’s partner Ohvale. It is offered at a price of 9,700 euros.
