Special model for the 10th anniversary

For the tenth birthday of their Aprilia RSV4 super sports car, Aprilia is building a special model with 225 hp and only 165 kg. Ten pieces will be available on the market, costing 39,900 euros.

The RSV4 X is based on the new RSV4 1100 Factory model from Aprilia, also a thoroughbred racer without road approval and with 217 hp already very good at feeding. But the highly exclusive RSAV4 X goes one better, with a whopping 225 hp and numerous lightweight components that reduce its curb weight to 165 kg. It was developed by A.prilia racing team, which is close to borrowing from the RS-GP Grand Prix motorcycle. The engines of just ten copies are assembled by hand and the tolerances of the components are constantly checked, just like the in-house competition motorcycles.

Components from the MotoGP

The special parts of the RSV4 X include sharper camshafts that come straight from the Superbike World Championship. The Akrapovic exhaust system with titanium collector and carbon muffler has a sprint filter as a special feature, according to Aprilia the filter with the highest permeability on the market and also used on MotoGP motorcycles. The engine control system is specially tuned for the racetrack and contributes its small part to the increase in performance.

The RSV4 X is the first production motorcycle in the world to install a gearbox with idling below first gear and which also comes directly from MotoGP. According to the company’s racing technicians, the system called Aprilia ANN (Aprilia No Neutral) enables you to shift from first to second gear more quickly and also prevents shifting errors. Another novelty in series production is the Brembo brake system with the GP4-MS brake calipers milled from the solid. The T-Drive brake discs are commanded by a 19×16 radial pump milled from solid.

The cladding is made of carbon, plus aluminum components milled from solid material such as the clutch lever or the imaginable footrests. The magnesium wheels come from Marchesini, the slicks from Pirelli, and when it comes to paintwork, Aprilia borrowed from the Moto-PG racers of the two works drivers Andrea Iannone and Bradley Smith.

The copies cost 39,900 euros each and were sold out within a few hours via online pre-orders. Two of the ten copies go to Max Biaggi and Andrea Iannone. In Noale, Italy, Aprilia is opening the factory gates to hand over the RSV4 X to buyers in the racing department. The RSV4 X was unveiled at the “Aprilia All Stars” brand meeting, to which over 10,000 Aprilia fans came to the Mugello race track in Tuscany. For the first lap on the race track with the RSV4 X, ex-champion Max Biaggi competed appropriately: with three 250cc and two superbike titles, the 47-year-old Roman Aprilias is the most successful road racer.
