Aprilia RS4 125 2014

With its RSV4 profile, the 125 RS4 is one of the most attractive 1 / 8th-liter sports cars on the market. The 2013 version brought an extra touch of sport, with a sweet racing scent. New on a production 125, the Aprilia wins a shifter; the pilot can now shift gears on the fly as in competition. Note the new brake disc in wave format, still 300 mm. The Pirelli Diablo ROsso II are now the original equipment.

Genesis : Yo. Clear that this new RS4, it plays it cool and racing but cash. This is the 125, the real one, the RSV4 Replica. And we are not exaggerating. Aprilia’s sporty 125 is a true clone of the world champion Superbike machine. Headlights, fairing, rear mini-folding seat and shortened end, fuel tank and airbox cover, inverted fork…. It is the same. A grindstone that all youngsters will want to have; and not only them.

Compared to the RS 125, whose heart has changed dramatically, this is a whole different generation. And watch out for the shock, the 2-stroke dapetes are shaken by it. The venerable RS 125 firmly defended the bastion of 2-stroke competition, with a harsh wattage engine and crazy performance, to your liking a 500. Today, the RS4 is cleaner, consumes less, requires less fuel. maintenance, and is displayed at a less toxic price. Where is the wolf? In the engine. No more ringlinglin, smoke and the tearing of vocals. There now lives a modern block with injection, double ACT and 4 valves. What ? This means that… .. Aprilia’s new generation 125 sports car is powered by a 4-stroke engine. Economy and environment gain there, and the talent of the engine manufacturers of the group should make it fun to use. But finished the performances of phew. Like any 4-stroke of this displacement, we are only entitled to the legal maximum, that is to say 15 horses. It’s hard to admit that the most virulent ex-125 on the market (with the Cagiva Mito) gives way to a bike that is twice less powerful. Console yourself: the mechanics claim to be much more available than the majority of mills in the segment, with minimal vibrations and reliability to match.

But don’t worry, you can get the most out of your nags with the chassis underneath. First, an aluminum perimeter frame with side members incorporating reinforcing ribs. A 41 mm fork in the pognes, inverted for rigidity. Braking is at the top of that of the 125: a radial caliper with 4 pistons on a disc of 300 mm in diameter. The racing spirit is everywhere, with an asymmetrical swingarm, an exhaust well hidden below to lower the center of gravity and clear the rear, and digital instrumentation modeled on that of the hypersport V4. With tires barely wider than an iPhone (*), the machine will spin from one turn to another with the speed of a beep chased by a coyote.
Once on the crutch, the hardest part remains: refuse invitations to arsouille offered by owners of R1, CBR and other hypersports; because more than one would swear to have an RSV4 1000 in front of them.

* Lengthwise, the iPhone. It’s not bike wheels, either….
