50 years of Moto Guzzi V7
Vanguard presents anniversary bike
Content of
The Moto Guzzi V7 made motorcycle history. In 2017 it celebrates its 50th anniversary. Vanguard, a jeans brand from the Netherlands, is giving itself an anniversary bike for its own birthday. The motorcycle was designed by Gannet Design from Switzerland, who designed a Vanguard Moto Guzzi V8 last year.
“We think that the cruelest burden on a motorcycle is among other things a full throttle on the highway" – MOTORRAD formulated this challenge in its 21/1969 issue. Editors had two M.oto Guzzi V7, subjected to an extreme test for the time: the motorcycles drove from Hamburg to Vienna and back again in 24 hours. The two Moto Guzzis covered the approximately 2800 kilometers with an average speed of almost 120 km / h with breaks.

It’s stories like this that shaped the Moto Guzzi V7’s reputation. The motorcycle originally developed at the request of the Italian police was the first Moto Guzzi with a V-engine. The model became a great success and helped the manufacturer through difficult times in the Italian two-wheeler market.
It is pure coincidence that both Moto Guzzi and Vanguard are celebrating their 50th this year. When designing the V7 Custom, however, Gannet Design deliberately made covers: the tank in denim look, the rear light in V-cut and the wheel bolts are reminiscent of jeans rivets. The special model was built by Wrench Kings in Bilthoven.
The limited Vanguard V7 Rider Anniversary Jeans are not really suitable for motorcycles, but they also make references to the Moto Guzzi V7 Custom in many details. For example, the patch label on the waistband is reminiscent of the motorcycle seat. The pants are sold in an oil can. If you want to buy the good piece, you have to pay 139.95 euros for it, pictures of the Vanguard Moto Guzzi V7 are included.
