Mid-range athletes from 10,770 euros

The Aprilia RS 660 was presented at EICMA 2019. The little athlete comes with 100 hp, Euro 5 and a large electronics package. An A2 variant is also coming. You can order now.

That is fired A.prilia RS 660 from a new series twin with 660 cm³, which is derived from the 1100 V4. The parallel twin, which is inclined forwards and has a 270 degree crank pin offset, generates 100 hp at 10,500 tours. The maximum torque of 67 Nm is available at 8,500 rpm. The two-cylinder also comes in a 95 hp version that can be throttled for the A2 driver’s license. The exhaust system consists of a single tailpipe with an asymmetrical double outlet; Positioned below the engine, it should help centralize the masses, which benefits handling.

The Aprilia RS 660 is homologated according to Euro 5. Aprilia has announced a complete range of new bikes with the 660. The RS 660 is scheduled to roll out to dealers by the end of 2020. The Tuono 660 will follow just a few months later. An enduro version is also in the works. There is still no launch date for the Touareg 660, but prototypes have already been spotted on test drives.

With all the supersport attributes

The new twin is packed in a polished aluminum frame, which in turn uses the engine as a load-bearing element. The double swing arm is also made of aluminum. The right stile is banana-shaped to make room for the exhaust pipe that opens here. Other features include a double disc brake system with radially screwed Brembo calipers and 320 mm discs at the front, an adjustable Kayaba fork with 41 mm stanchions and filigree forged wheels.

The double cladding in the front area is intended to ensure optimal aerodynamics: more stability at high speeds, proper wind protection for the driver and cooling for the engine. The trim parts and the seat are mainly made of carbon fiber laminate. Aprilia gives the dry weight of the RS 660 at 169 kilograms. Ready to drive, it turns into 183 kilograms.

Cornering ABS is on board the Aprilia RS 660, as well as traction and wheelie control, cruise control, quick shifter for clutchless upshifts and downshifts, engine brake assist and five driving modes: one for commuting, a dynamic one for sporty locomotion, an individual for configure yourself as well as the two racetrack modes "Challenge" and "Time attack", The latter can also be freely personalized.

In the cockpit there is a large TFT display with automatic night or day backlighting. The display instrument is being complemented by MIA, Aprilia’s new multimedia platform, which enables smartphone connectivity. The direction display from the mobile phone navigation is now played directly on the Aprilia display.

The Aprilia RS660 is available in three colors. Acid Gold looks like yellow, plus the versions Lava Red and Apex Black. There is still no official announcement from Aprilia about the price. The order books will not open until October 12, 2020. However, the new RS660 is already being offered at a price of 10,770 euros on various dealer websites.
