New middle class enduro is coming

Aprilia hinted at a new model at the EICMA, which could only be seen in rudiments. We’re sure the mid-range enduro called Tuareg 660 is coming.

Admittedly: apart from a lot of green, there was not much to see of the motorcycle presented in the glass case at the fair. But what was seen sends a clear message. A.prilia brings a middle class enduro with the name Tuareg 660.

Aprilia RS 660 as the basis?

On closer inspection you can see one or the other detail in the glass case. The typical Aprilia colors black and red as well as various green areas can be clearly identified in the greenery. The 21-inch wire-spoke front wheel, which is spoked in such a way that tubeless studded tires can be fitted, is clearly visible – a clear indication of an off-road model. In addition, the front wheel is equipped with a double disc brake system with radially attached saddles. In addition to the aluminum swingarm, a rear silencer protrudes high. A rear wheel with studded tires can also be seen behind it. If you peek through the foliage skillfully, you can also see parts of a “Tuareg” lettering and the code number 660. A red lacquered tubular space frame and a lush engine mudguard are also visible.

Due to the studded tires, it can be assumed that the Aprilia glass box bike is an off-road motorcycle.

It can be assumed that the new model will use the drive from the Aprilia RS 660, which was presented as a series model at EICMA. In addition, a second bike, the Tuono 660, was presented at the Milan trade fair, which is based on the new in-line two-cylinder engine, which is supposed to produce 100 hp in the RS. In the Tuono 660, which was still declared as a concept vehicle at the EICMA, the drive produces just 95 hp. Otherwise, it can be assumed that the new enduro model, which could be called the Tuareg 660, will be equipped with features similar to the two motorcycles already presented. Aprilia gives the RS 660 cornering ABS, traction and wheelie control, a quickshifter, five driving modes and other current assistance systems.

Sister models available from summer 2020

Incidentally, the Aprilia RS 660 will celebrate its market launch in summer 2020. The Tuono 660 is rumored to follow a few months later. In all probability we will have to wait a little longer for the Tuareg 660. A presentation of the series model or at least one of the first concept bikes at EICMA 2020 is conceivable.

By the way, Aprilia already had Tuareg models in the past: In the mid-80s, Aprilia’s rally-inspired bike came on the market with various engine configurations (350 and 600). A new Tuareg would take on an inheritance that should not be underestimated.
