Splitscreen technology is already known from cars in the premium segment. With the new Integrated Connectivity Cluster from Bosch This technology is now being used in motorcycles in the form of a 10.25-inch TFT screen. In addition, with the smartphone integration solution MySpin, the contents of the smartphone can be transferred to the motorcycle display.

Different content on one display

The new TFT display celebrates its premiere in the facelifted BMW R 1250 RT. On the generously dimensioned screen, the driver receives all information relevant to him at a glance and is not distracted from the traffic. The user decides which content he wants to see and can operate it using the controls on the handlebars. The content of smartphone apps, for example, is automatically adjusted to the size of the motorcycle display with MySpin. Thanks to the split screen, the screen simultaneously displays important information such as speed or warning messages.

Together with the also new networked 6.5-inch display from Bosch without split-screen function, Ducati will integrate the MySpin integration solution into its vehicles. The manufacturers themselves decide on the availability of the apps and their scope and can add new functions and apps to the portfolio at any time.

Conclusion

Extensive integration of the smartphone into the motorcycle’s displays was long overdue. MySpin offers a good approach here, but it is controlled by the respective manufacturers. Common automotive solutions such as Apple Carplay or Android Auto are more permissive here.
