Boss Hoss and Mega Machines vouch for hellish dimensions: displacement – 5.7 liters, weight – around half a ton, wheelbase – over two meters. And the bike beckons forever.

Astonishment, no, fluctuations between helplessness and bewilderment horrifies the faces of those standing by: Two alien low-flying aircraft visit Mother Earth, babble at a motorway filling station. Boss Hoss and Mega Machines – as it is written on their tanks – add fuel, a petrol pump mutates into a place of pilgrimage. The never-before-seen objects are surprising because of their incomprehensible dimensions, and their engines also inspire awe. V 8 engines, the polished covers of each row of four raised to the sky. “The Mouse Machines from Chevrolet,” diagnosed an expert enthusiastically, and even the coolness of a Brit collapsed: “I have never ever seen such a machine.” A motorcyclist dares to approach, trusts his colleague because, after all, he has one himself Cruiser with V-engine moves. “And? What is the cost of such a part? ”The riders’ answer – yes, they can speak, speak like you and me – makes him shudder. 70,000 to 80,000 marks. The motorcyclist objects that he would get ten of his XV 125 Viragos for that, but everyone laughs: Who needs ten Viragos? And when the big blocks of the aliens were rumbling like beasts again, someone finally calculated that a Virago PS costs almost 700 marks, while Boss Hoss squandered each of his measured 287 horses for a mere 244 stones. A low-flying aircraft at a special price, so to speak.
A car driver falls out of the ticket booth without paying because the sound has driven him crazy, and on the train there is no end of sympathy. In the first bend, a flash of lights flashes after the super bikes. The wild rolling movements with which the monsters react to slight inclines because of their car tires cause fear for the life and limb of the rider. They are doing well. No, really good: you experience sovereignty in a new dimension. At most, it will disturb slow-speed drivers who suddenly veer away. When braking. Not necessarily the domain of the mega machines, and certainly not the boss Hoss. After all, with chrome-plated brake discs, they pay homage to the beautiful appearance rather than the proper friction values. But it’s not about braking either. It’s about accelerating. Gas on, and 287 HP and 480 Nm push the Boss Hoss forward with brute force. Lord in heaven. The Mega Machines, on the other hand, with 180 PS and 320 Nm, at best, looks like a tired copy.
After 135 kilometers – and unfortunately there is no place of pilgrimage in sight – the Mega Machines completely unexpectedly slurped away its 28 liters of fuel. Boss Hoss drinks in small sips and also drives a forty-liter barrel for a walk. But the railroad doesn’t love strange mega machines anyway: They fog the road with an oil cloud and preserve the following Boss Hoss and driver down to the last hollow space.
Freshly repaired or cleaned, both rush to the country road to immediately rock themselves powerfully with every small bump in the road. And between two curves, the very own terrain of these tough guys, the ride quickly turns into a border hike. The slightest turn of the throttle is enough to drastically exceed 100 km / h. Especially the Boss Hoss storms from curve to curve, as if the person was after her.
Incidentally, what happens in the corners is like a technical knockout, because the footrests of both machines scratch deep into the asphalt even at the slightest lean angle. On the other hand, the line is only correct if the footrest constantly strokes the road surface. The mega machines do not like the country road either, refusing to continue driving with the rear wheel blocked. Three of the five rear wheel bearings have quit their service. A night shift is followed by a new start-up, in the course of which a driving suit is first transformed into oilskin, then the innards of a silencer are spit on the street and finally the selective cylinder deactivation takes place, in which one cylinder after the other refuses. Until a standstill. Then, in the middle of the intersection of a main road, it finally dawns on the earthly test rider: distances over 100 kilometers seem to be mega out.
Or not? Boss Hoss, the original, is recommended for a long-distance test with more than 1000 trouble-free test kilometers and thus teaches what all Bible festivals have long known anyway. You shouldn’t make an image for yourself…..

Conclusion Mega Machines

Bankruptcies and breakdowns accompanied the mega machines, called Handy Machine within the editorial team. Not because of their handiness, but because no driver dared to leave the house without a mobile phone to determine their location. The fact that, in addition to numerous other deficiencies such as unstable idling and poor throttle response, the engine also quit was not surprising, because with 185 hp it was far below expectations. A chassis that oscillates terribly even at moderate speeds and a fork that works catastrophically complete the chassis. The sitting position is more suitable for a gynecologist’s chair than for a two-wheeler. When it comes to the brakes alone, Mega Machines was able to make up ground over its competitor. Offering the customer a bike for 80,000 marks that is in the middle of the development phase and is only good for short journeys to the next ice cream parlor is a lot of stuff.

Conclusion Boss Hoss

The Boss Hoss polarizes. The emotions ranged from bright enthusiasm to strict rejection. But anyone who has ever been able to experience the power of the V8 will almost inevitably succumb to the fascination of the ample range of services and the unbelievable acoustics. Again and again the engine amazes, catapulting the 557 kilogram Boss Hoss and its driver effortlessly forward in every speed range. But the wide car tire on the rear wheel does not exactly promote handling and driving stability. Especially at higher speeds, the Boss Hoss begins to commute threateningly. The braking system also always ensures an increased adrenaline level in an emergency. In addition, the workmanship, measured against the price, is below average. The manufacturer is planning – and for this he deserves the greatest thanks – to switch to better brakes. And the intended installation of a torque converter instead of the difficult-to-dose clutch could drastically improve the Boss Hoss.
