A tracker for Dani Pedrosa

MotoGP rider Dani Pedrosa announced his departure from the active GP circus in 2018. Red Bull has summarized his sporting career in the film “Silent Samurai”. The film bike is supplied by Customizer Deus ex Machina.

D.he Red Bull documentary Silent Samurai tells of the ups and downs in Dani Pedrosa’s racing life. Driving scenes on a custom bike were repeatedly installed as a connecting element. And it is precisely this custom cafe racer that comes from Mike Woolaway’s custom bike manufacturer Deus ex Machina.

Two-stroke single with 750 cc

Dani Pedrosa and Mike Woolaway worked closely together to build the Pedrosa bike. The result is a two-stroke single-cylinder from a 1985 Honda CR500 to become a tracker-style cafe racer. The crosser engine was completely rebuilt, refined and increased in displacement to 750 cm³. A large hand-made water cooler ensures a healthy temperature balance. The single is fed via a Lectron special carburetor.

Around the potent single, Woolaway and his team knitted a completely new tubular steel frame. The cantilever tubular steel rear swing arm is supported on the side of the main frame by a Race Tech shock absorber. The front wheel has a conventional Ohlins telescopic fork with 43 mm stanchions. For the wheels, the bike relies on 19-inch DID wire-spoke rims with roughly profiled flat-track tires that are street legal. Brake power is provided by individual discs and Brembo calipers on both wheels.

Red Bull

Otherwise, the Pedrosa bike is absolutely reduced. A small teardrop-shaped sheet metal tank sits behind the steering head, followed by a solo bench in the flattracker style with an indicated number plate and mini rear light. In front of the fork there is a minimal trim in the style of a number plate with a round light. All cladding parts were formed from aluminum sheets. In front of the tall tubular handlebar there is only a round instrument in the cockpit. You won’t find any mudguards. The exhaust ends in a carbon rear silencer on the right-hand side, raised next to the rear. For the design, the makers mixed the bull from Red Bull with starting number 26 from Dani Pedrosa.

The Pedrosa bike was shipped to Europe for its appearance in the film. In future it will find its home in Dani Pedrosa’s garage.
