Driving report Arnimot-Honda

Arnimot-Honda VTR 1000 F.

None, it’s not a Honda CBR 600 RR that turns the corner so daringly. Can’t be with this fat grumbling V2 beat. It is only when looking from the side that characteristic side radiators and engine covers are revealed. This motorcycle is, or rather was, a VTR 1000 F.. The CBR fairing, which is adapted to their two-cylinder and frame, fits like a tailor-made suit. A Fireblade SC 28 donated the upside-down fork, a 1998 VFR the single-sided swing arm. And an MV Agusta F4 the elegant rear. The noble conversion looks sturdy and harmonious.

Arnold Zentek, head of the Arnimot company from Velbert, created it in four years of tinkering and using the finest goods
peppered. Even the handlebar landscape is a dream, with stumps 25 millimeters higher and the upper triple clamp from BKG milled from solid. The spring base can be adjusted by hand using setting stars. The Spiegler fittings, radial pumps for the clutch and front brake with rotating expansion tanks are also complex. Art in metal, the piece for 569 euros. The clutch handle can be pulled as soft as butter, and the front brake can be adjusted in a transparent way.
That’s good, because otherwise the eight-piston calipers, also from Spiegler, could easily be too much of a good thing. So at least they don’t anchor too brutally. The expensive brakes get enough to do because this VTR breathes in and out more freely. The HRC nozzle needle kit with a thicker nozzle and K&N air filters in the modified housing are juxtaposed with an intertwined, self-made manifold system and two sporty high Akrapovic silencers.

The V2 mobilized 109 hp and significantly more torque than the series, but it also got thirstier. Thanks to a shorter translation, the Arnimot-VTR runs like the devil. The 16 tooth sprocket has one more tooth, seven teeth plus the 47 tooth sprocket. In no time at all there are 260 items on the clock. But be careful when shifting up, the shift pattern has been reversed, first gear is up … And don’t lose your grip on the narrow footrests or the socket when turning with a 7.80 meter turning circle.

The shock absorber, a one-off production by Wilbers, is always tight and sometimes knocks the rider out of the saddle on mogul slopes ?? despite adjustable high and low-speed damping. The upside-down fork, modified by Wilbers, which rotates in steering head bearings from Emil Schwarz, is characterized by the finest response. And as the icing on the cake, Continental Road Attack offers considerable grip. The Arnimot-VTR arrows quickly and precisely around the corner and turns very easily despite the 2.5 centimeter longer wheelbase. You literally merge with the 216 kilogram motorcycle and feel perfectly integrated. 19,990 euros are due for the single item. Which seems justified in view of the quality of the components and the highest processing quality, right up to the complex multi-layer painting.
