A stylish introduction to two-wheeler life

The Honda CB 125 R should make the beginning of the two-wheeler career as easy as possible. Under the design motto: Neo Sports Cafe, the sister of the CB 125 F has been pimped up. We drove them.

The Honda C.B 125 R is the new addition to Honda’s model range in the 125 segment. It is placed alongside the CB 125 F and is based on the same design idea as its big sister, the CB 1000 R. While almost everything has changed visually, Honda was very economical in terms of technical changes: The water-cooled single cylinder comes from the CBR 125 R and has two valves per cylinder. With a specified 13.3 hp, it is more in the midfield in terms of performance. Especially in this displacement class, two horsepower make a clear difference.

However, at 126 kilograms, the Honda CB 125 R is one of the lighter eight-liter bikes. The weight, like the short wheelbase, makes it easier to drive in often narrow city traffic, which should be very convenient for beginners. The fuel efficiency should also be very interesting here, as the Honda CB 125 R should bring it to a range of around 480 kilometers according to the manufacturer.

The design is simple, elegant and modern, but also contains classic naked bike elements, such as the round headlight with modern LED light inserts. The paintwork is black with some metal accents. Here you stand out from the rather colorful competition in terms of color.

Looks quite grown up

Fork, wheels, swing arm and frame are identical to the CB 300 R..

You have to look closely to recognize the Honda CB 125 R as a 125cc. Since many parts are identical to the CB 300 R, it looks very grown-up. We checked in Lisbon whether it drives like this.

The CB is the first 125 to have a full two-channel ABS on board. The front brake still seemed quite blunt on our virgin specimen and also required a strong pull on the lever. The two-valve engine vibrates from 7000 rpm, but should be satisfied with just under 2 liters per 100 kilometers. Shifting with the six-speed gearbox is easy and easy by hand or foot.

Despite the compact dimensions, the driver is accommodated comfortably on the Honda CB 125 R. While the upside-down fork took care of compensating for the sometimes quite wavy road surface, the shock absorber passed on particularly short, hard bumps quite unmoved.

The Honda CB 125 R is now available at prices from 4390 euros (including ancillary costs).
