Sports supermoto

In addition to the SM 610, Husqvarna is also sending a sports supermoto onto the road with the SM 510 R ?? in the new corporate colors red and white.

Supermoto is hip at Husqvarna. First, because last season they brought both Drift World Championship titles to Italy. Second, because half of the 12,000 machines produced per year roll out of the halls on Lake Vares on 17-inch wheels. Which is why the sporty Supermoto models, the SM 450 and 510 R, have been given a major technical upgrade: A largely new frame including a slimmer rear frame and a modified swing arm form the basis of a fundamental revision. In fact, the footpegs placed 15 millimeters further in front, the ten millimeters lower seat height and, above all, the 40 millimeter narrower radiator hood with a slimmer tank are immediately noticeable.

Even if the factory specification of 118 kilograms dry should be added to a good 15 kilograms in the ready-to-drive state, the permanent change of lean angle with the 510 in the meandering of the former Supermoto World Championship slope in Benidorm / Spain is child’s play. It can be slowed down deep into the hairpin bends with the force of a single finger. No wonder, after all, the radially screwed Brembo brake caliper with four individual pads is one of the best that is currently offered in the Supermoto profession. In addition, the balanced chassis design with its sporty, but not too tightly coordinated spring elements conveys an unheard of confidence in every situation. Typical Husqvarna ?? Neutrality in perfection, so to speak.

This also applies to the petrol injection from Mikuni, which will replace the carburetor from this year. Without choking, the short-stroke engine takes on gas, sprints off vehemently, turns ?? unfortunately noticeably vibrating ?? up to the rev limiter that intervenes at 10,000 rpm. However, the Euro 3 standard takes its toll: On public roads, a throttle valve stop cuts the power declared in the open version with 58 hp to just 30 horsepower.
