Driving Report: Vespa GTS 300 Super: Everybody Darling
Since her appearance in 2008, the Vespa GTS 300 Super dominates the market of the trollers in Germany. Now she has received a slight update – and finally an important security feature.
Successful than the Vespa GTS 300 Super has been in Germany in Germany in Germany No other powertroller: more than 10.500 new registrations prove that the Germans have closed the strongest and largest Vespa of all times in the heart. About 2.600 pieces were added in 2013 alone, more than ever. The big Vespa is quasi of the VW Golf under the scooters
And that, although the GTS 300 super first with last 5.390 euros not cheap and secondly never a perfect scooter was: the helmetach arg small, the spring elements not particularly durable, the rust-prime exhaust, the driving characteristics compared to other 300 scooters only so Lala. But she was and is just a Vespa. Who with a compact, also for overland trips halfway suitable scooters will be likely to consider them almost inevitably. In May, the optically only very subtle-polished 2014 version comes to the dealers; Technically, however, there are important changes.
Finally ABS on board
The visible innovations compared to the previous model are not recognizable at second glance, and then only from Vespa experts. Changed turn signal in front with now integrated LEDs and another taillight with chrome enclosure and also LED’s, a slightly modified "tie" – so you call at Vespa the elongated plastic insert in the middle of the front shield – or a new instrument unit in the style of the recently presented Primavera.

Most important is a small sticker on the fairing of the front rocker: ABS / ASR. He discreetly points out that the new GTS – by the way in all motorizations – now has a two-circuit ABS for front and rear wheels as well as a slip control for the rear wheel. If you really want, you will receive a GTS 300 super "without" without ". Then it costs "only" 5.490 euros instead of otherwise 5.790 euros. After all, the German importer is largest value – the additional costs of almost 200 euros already.
The new ABS comes from Continental Automotive and is at the amount of the time. A print modulator monitors front and rear wheels separately and regulates the brake pressure if the wheel sensors of the central unit report a wheel blockade. This works discreetly in the background, as it is the state of the art today in motorcycles. The traction control associated with the ABS takes, simplified, "the gas out" when the rear wheel starts to turn through on the slippery substrate. At least the system does not hurt, and who goes a lot on cobblestones, the ASR will appreciate.

Brake is not a highlight
The brake itself suffices for Otto normal drivers, without being a highlight: the rear, actuated by the left hand lever, is sufficiently strong, while the front brake requires a lot of hand force to bring the front wheel near the blocking limit. If it really succeeds, the ABS regulates sensitively.
Completely unchanged, the tin dress of the GTS. Advantageously, it is unquestionably that this Vespa looks like it always looks like. That’s exactly what you can see differently, especially, especially since Vespa recently introduced the smaller model Primavera: This acts much more fresher and somehow also cifiable. The insistence on the GTS body brings in one point also a real disadvantage with themselves: that from the beginning to small helmetfach also earns its name only for the carriers of Italian miniature helmets. Of those now adapt, after incoming revision of the subeat storage space, even two left in which now long long left, but conventional jet or even integral helmets in suitable for Central European skulls must continue to stay outside.

Also new is – at least for the GTS – the front wheel guide installed in the Primavera with the abbreviation of it. She makes her thing noticeably better than the former swingarm, so you can be satisfied with the driving behavior on bad streets.
