Long development time
About 15 years was researched – a takeover of car technology was not possible, but the driver, unlike in the car, on each motorcycle a different attitude. And because it sits very upright on the gold Wing, the flagship may play the pioneer. Especially since ten kilos extra weight hardly make up the 360 kilo heavy luxury tourer. The airbag is V-shaped, and catch the driver in a normal right. Two straps ensure the right position of the airbag. The severity of injuries due to an impact on a vehicle or the road are thus significantly reduced – whereby the system fires even when a car bounces on the standing gold wing.
How much is the fun?
The price is not yet fixed, but will be in the four-digit area. However, that is almost 25,000 euros expensive bike hardly in weight. Around half of the customers should therefore access the optional airbag, which also affects the resale value. Because retrofitting the complex system can not be.
What brings it?
An airbag is not a wonder a wonder and has hardly any effect on a side sliding slide. However, if the upper body strikes for a crash – which is the case with more than half of all motorcycle accidents in Germany – the HONDA system will actually save life in the future. While the gold wing makes 340 customers last year, only a small beginning. But already that is worthy of honor! Finally, the cars of the airbag triumphs also succeeded in the luxury class.
