The Italian Gresini racing team is switching from Aprilia to Ducati in MotoGP. Gresini has signed a corresponding two-year contract.

After this Aprilia announced in April that it would operate as an independent works team from the 2022 season To start in MotoGP, the Gresini Racing team had to look for a new partner. Gresini has it with him Ducati found. Aprilia was allegedly ready for a further cooperation and Gresini was probably also in negotiations with Suzuki. Ultimately, however, the decision was made in favor of the Reds from Bologna.

The Gresini team will then step down from the MotoGP season 2022 as another Ducati satellite team on. A two-year contract was signed for 2022/23. The drivers Fabio Di Giannantonio and Enea Bastianini were named as drivers for the new Gresini-Ducati team. Team Gresini itself has a five-year contract with MotoGP.

For the past seven years, the Gresini team has worked with Aprilia the Aprilia RS-GP developed to the point that the model is competitive. It is not yet known who will be the driver for the Aprilia factory team from 2022. A line-up consisting of Aleix Espargaro and MotoGP returnees Andrea Dovizioso, who is already busy testing for the Italians.
