Honda CB-F Concept
The return of the Bol d’Or
At Honda, the legendary Bol d’Or may make a comeback. The Japanese have now presented the Honda CB-F Concept at a virtual motorcycle show.
M.ith the Bol d’Or models from the 1980s, Honda set a monument for itself. The four-cylinder models in Euro design with displacements from 750 to 1,100 cm³ were real bestsellers and classics that are already sought after today. Later, the clad F2 variants were added.
Honda
The now shown Honda CB-F is optically based strongly on these Bol d’Or models. The new edition also has the typical Euro design, but relies on modern technology – no wonder, as it is also based on the CB 1000 R. This means that a single-sided swing arm with central spring strut and a USD fork with radially bolted brake calipers on a double disc brake system are attached to the front Commitment. The 998 cm³ in-line four-cylinder sits load-bearing in a central tubular steel bridge frame. The four chrome-plated manifolds lead to a chrome-plated silencer on the right. The two horns sit in front of the lower triple tree. The lighting is modern with LED technology. Instead of round instruments, there is also a TFT display in the cockpit.
In 1978 Honda presented the CB 900 F Bol d’Or at IFMA.
Honda still leaves open whether the concept is destined for a future as a production model. What is clear, however, is that a new Bol d’Or would simply be a dream and technically easy to implement.
