Four years ago, Honda’s “New Class” triggered a landslide victory for the new center, consisting of NC models 700 X and S and the Integra large-wheel scooter. Two years later, in 2013, they were ripe for higher tasks, and since then they have been catching votes with a full 745 cubic meters and 55 hp. Over 130,000 motorcycle voters worldwide ticked the order form for an NC or Integra, more than 70,000 of them in Europe and over 15,650 in Germany. Your party program? Pragmatic purism: high-torque, user-friendly, economical, inexpensive to maintain. Strengthened in profile, the revised Honda NC 750 X is up for re-election as Honda’s bestseller in Europe (33,000 buyers so far).

Their wide handlebars and moderately long suspension travel stand for adventure feeling light, European instead of Africa twin. Mister X is an enduresque “mid-size crossover bike” with a 17-inch chassis that is clearly street-oriented. Modified front and rear panels, more distinctive at the front, slimmer at the rear, appear more dignified. LED headlights placed one above the other, framed by LED light strips, show a clear profile. Light-emitting diodes are now also shining in the rear of the Honda NC 750 X. Everything developed by Honda’s design center in Italy. Motto: Dare to get more quality!

The compact, shorter Euro 4 exhaust of the Honda NC 750 X makes it babble in a socially acceptable manner. Subtly, but comfortably. A 270 degree crank pin offset makes the unchanged twin in the middle sound like a 90 degree V2. Its cylinder bank is 62 degrees flat.
Only DCT versions (Dual Clutch Transmission) will be available for the press event, recognizable by the missing clutch lever and the separate parking brake. This is a real manual transmission with two clutches. Revised control software promises the smoothest, jolt-free transitions with minimal interruption in traction.
Fine response already in the lower speed range
The self-check of the system after the engine starts only takes one second instead of the annoying two seconds. Then the tamer D-mode can be used first. Turning in the smallest of spaces with the handlebars at the stop and threading into the flowing traffic is astonishingly easy with the Honda NC 750 X thanks to its fine response even in the lower speed range. The two clutches alternate upshifting with the throttle cocked, really imperceptibly, as often only a glance at the gear indicator reveals. The latest DTC allows defined clutch slip in order to smooth gear changes even more.
Beefy, the 750 comes from the spot at the start of the traffic light. The red area is 6500 tours. That says a lot about the quiet nature of this drive. Its two balance shafts make it pulsate gently, cultivated and calm. Good this way. Lively enough for the middle class, the sleek 55-hp series twin hangs cleanly, even spontaneously on the gas. Always powerful enough. From around 4000 tours, the Honda NC 750 X sounds more energetic. You can feel its extremely linear torque curve. It is time to give the now three different S-for-Sport modes the spurs. The new S3 mode is recommended for winding mountain stretches: it keeps the individual gears in for longer before upshifting, and downshifts earlier when taking off the accelerator.

Good for enjoying more engine braking torque. Sudden gas bursting leads to a “kick down” command. In addition, all four driving modes adapt their shift patterns to whether you are driving uphill or downhill. Have to switch? No. Can switch? Clear. At any time you can force the twin to upshift or downshift using switches on the left end of the handlebar. In the purely manual A / T mode, the driver shifts all by himself using Tiptronic. Many options, one goal: to clear your head and concentrate only on the choice of line, braking and turning points. DCT is now working better than ever. Almost every second Honda NC 750 X is currently being ordered with it. It costs 1000 euros extra; its ten kilos extra weight are placed close to the center of gravity. Honda specifies a realistic 3.5 liter standard consumption with a range of around 400 kilometers.
The renewed X has a Showa fork with “Dual Bending” technology. It is more fully subdued, appears more progressive and, due to less nervous reactions, leads more confidently than before. Around 15 centimeters of suspension travel at the front and rear offer comfort and reserves for lousy stretches. Despite the wide handlebars, not super but also not unwieldy, the Honda NC 750 X drives good-naturedly, takes its course neutrally and predictably. Not wobbly, not nervous. Pre-tensioning the shock absorber (in nine stages) makes it more agile and gives you a better feel for the front.
Best-selling Honda in this country
Despite the structurally simple floating calipers, the braking performance of the Honda NC 750 X is okay. The enlarged, rear-flow window provides good shielding. The wind pressure that still hits the fuselage does not matter. The practical, easily accessible luggage compartment in the dummy fuel tank even holds an integral / flip-up helmet. For the tachometer, which is now easier to read, a tachometer limit can be selected at which its bars switch to orange. Fuel-saving driving style is displayed politically correctly with a green background.
The Honda NC 750 X found 1500 fans in Germany in 2015. This made it the best-selling Honda in this country, it took tenth place in the approval charts. In 2016, the successful type wants to collect 1900 votes for now 6785 euros (without DCT). For first-time voters with an A2 driver’s license, Alpha Technik offers throttling to 48 hp for around 105 euros with a simple throttle cable stop. Important for a representative of the people.

The spring travel of the S is around three centimeters shorter, 120 millimeters at the front and rear. This lowers the seat height to 790 millimeters. According to Honda, the S is three kilograms lighter than the X: 217 kilograms without and 227 with DCT. At a total price of 6550 euros, it is 520 euros cheaper than the Honda NC 750 X.
